Directly into the bloodstream of a tiny baby isn't natural though.
There is so much more to spreading disease than only vaccinating. Keeping your sick child away from others, washing hands, blowing your nose into a tissue and throwing it away - basic hygiene goes a long, long way.
Keeping your sick SELF from others. If my kids have a temp I know they are fighting something so I keep them home. It might be something basic, it might not but I don't chance it and send them to kinder or childcare anyway.
If I worked in healthcare I probably would vacc myself. My body is able to handle it.
FWIW i work in health care too.
I have vacc'ed myself - but as stretcher bearer mentioned, many of mine did not seroconvert (namely TB and Hep B - and i work in an area that see's these patients regularly)
I continue to vac myself, and when MJ reaches an age that she is better able to handle the vaccines, i again with consider.
If you told me 2 years ago i would not be vaccinating my child (or partially) i would have thought that you were completely off your trolley!
Nah, directly injecting anything into a teeny tiny one just isn't my bag. I'd rather they catch it naturally so I can deal with it naturally then get the immunity I'd like for them.
It doesn't have to be purely one way or the other though and it's better that we can discuss the to's and fro's.
What a hot topic. In researching a few weeks ago I found this recent journal article which summarises findings of studies around the world into the theories around some key vaccination concerns. I hope some will find it interesting.
Vaccines and Autism: A Tale of Shifting Hypotheses
[I]Although child vaccination rates remain high, some parental concern persists that vaccines might cause autism. Three specific hypotheses have been proposed: (1) the combination measles‐mumps‐rubella vaccine causes autism by damaging the intestinal lining, which allows the entrance of encephalopathic proteins; (2) thimerosal, an ethylmercury‐containing preservative in some vaccines, is toxic to the central nervous system; and (3) the simultaneous administration of multiple vaccines overwhelms or weakens the immune system. We will discuss the genesis of each of these theories and review the relevant epidemiological evidence.

What an awesome find!
the biggest thing I found
Which confuses me as to why so mcuh effort to split MMR:
..."thimerosal is not contained in live‐virus vaccines, such as MMR"
This is a much more eloquent way of saying what I was getting at. I agree 100% with everything you've said Stretcher Bearer, including the vaccine debate ends up being very polarised.
At the end of the day, not everyone is considerate enough to keep their sick children or selves away from everyone else. Anyone else who's worked as a triage nurse will testify to people coming up to the window, saying "I'm sick" and then coughing and spluttering in your face as if that proves their point. Unfortunately good hygeine is not universally practised.
And I acknowlegde that immunised people can still contract illnesses, the severity and duration of that illness tends to be a lot less severe than it could otherwise have been though, which can be the difference between a full recovery and permanent problems related to that illness, or even death.
Anyway, it is good to know that so many people on here are making informed decisions. I'm sure that no-one is going to sway from their point of view based on this discussion, but hopefully it promotes further research for mums still deciding what's best for them.
Guys, just to clarify- the majority of non-vaxers out there are not in opposition with the virus/bacteria strains being present in vaccines, (and understand how this can trigger antibody response - albeit limited), but are strongly opposed to the synthetic adjuvants that are put in vaccines to emulsify (bind together substances), and increase the shelf life (more profit for pharmaceutical companies) of the product.
Ingredients I am talking about include but are not limited too: Thimerosal (50% mercury by weight- a toxic heavy metal), aluminium (another toxic heavy metal), formaldehyde (eek!?), aspartame (the cancer-causing artificial sweetener used in diet coke), sodium borate (a roach killer) and polysorbate 80 (used in detergent - amoung other things).
This does not include controversial ingredients such as human diploid cells derived from aborted human fetuses, human albumin, chick embryo cells, and bovine (cow) serum - ingredients which have various religious and animal rights groups protesting. Nor does it include the usually benign substances latex and egg protein - allergic reactions to which are now on the rise due to the substances being injected straight into the blood stream shortly after birth - not a natural route of administration for latex or egg!!
Unfortunately, most parents do not investigate these ingredients until their child has had an adverse reaction to a vaccine - in which case the damage is already done.
If a parent has not researched these ingredients thoroughly prior to vaccinating their child they cannot consider themselves fully informed. For more information on vaccine ingredients and side effects - go to WAVE (World Association for Vaccine Education) and educate yourself on each ingredient (they are listed under each vaccine according to pathogen type and manufacturer) that may potentially be injected into your child's bloodstream. By doing so you can help to make vaccines safer for our children, and encourage the powers that be so that health is put above phamaceutical profit.
Knowledge is power!!
Thay doesn't hold much water and most of what I've read contains reference to the effect of Thimersol.
As for WAVE, I'll give it a read. I'm wary though of a group that says it's about education yet uses the web address "novaccine". they are still a group against vaccinations.
Not all vaccines are safe, some do create reactions especially in susceptible individuals, granted, but it's not all big brother and pharmaceutical profit running things.
An observation. If you increase the shelf life of a drug, then you need to buy less. if they have short expiry dates then they go out of date quickly and if you don't use them all you need to buy more? So it would be more profitable to have short shelf lives.
We are never all going to be in agreance, and our choices are our own. Nevertheless an interesting thread.
You are free to question the risk of vaccinations. No one here can judge you for that. And I think this is a good attitude. You can serach on checkorphan.org for more vaccine news and get more information.
most anti vaccine sites will be educational as we all get PRO vaccine stuff rammed down our throats from the moment we find out we are pregnant.. im yet to come across a doctor to say "you can have xyz with these ingredients in it by the way X is also commonly known as ABC which we all know is very toxic to humans, but you should still allow me to inject this directly in to your newborns body!" come on! doctors DO NOT tell the whole story.
my DS was uptodate until he turned 4 my DD has not had any vaccines. she has never had a communicable disease yet and she goes to childcare but of course it could only be her fault chicken pox, whooping cough has gone through there....
seriously look after your children, keep them healthy rather then pumping them full of crap "just in case"...
Likewise though, I'm yet to find an antivaccination site doesnt do just as much fear mongering that pro 'vaccinators' are accused of doing.
Anyone can manipulate to suit a cause, and unfortunately some the claims are untrue- but given enough momentum and emotional rhetoric, we can make viewers believe that vaccines are full of toxins.
Hey here's an idea let give out vaccines but kill and mame the recipient! Whilst poor choices in preservatives for example many claims had nothing to do with vaccines made in Australia- we are lucky we do gave our own vaccine industry- one with higher and more responsible standards at least in my opinion.
I have seen the results of preventable illness first hand, if the safe chance to prevent it exists I will take it. I will, however respect your right to choose.
SB - It DOES happen and HAS happened in Australia - you still use the Whooping Cough vaccine, and yet it is responsible for killing 1 in 2 of the Aboriginal children that were inflicted with it under the Federal Governments helath plan for Indigenous Australians in the 1970s
The Small Pox vaccine is notorious for being deadly
The Measles vaccine is known to cause many illnesses and suspected of causing many more
The National Institue of Allergy and Infectious Disease support the notion that ANY flu vaccine can cause Guillane-Barre Disease which is a paralysing illness.
The Tetanus vax also is known to cause this illness, along with seizures, innner ear damage, and fatal anaphylactic shock
The Mumps vaccine has been proven in Germany to cause meningitis, ensephalitis, epilepsy and febrile convulsions.
So yes, the notion of people knowingly being injected with things that maime and kill is not as far fetched as your sarcasm suggests. They just don't tell you about it.
