Although you may not have gotten much bigger you should still look at getting mat bras without an underwire because you wil start producing milk and not wearing underwire gives ryou room and you wont get blocked milk ducts etc.
You're lucky - I have gone from a 12c to a 14 E now!! I love the lovables too and the elle mcpherson bras and i just alternate!!
-
HI Veronica :) My breasts didn't change that much - certainly not a cup size..just got fuller. I went to B&T and got fitted at around 6-7 months. I bought a few Lovable brand ones (i think that's the brand) and they were great. Still in good condition that i'll be able to use them this time around too (but i'm gonna get 2 more newies anyway).

i know that it is unwise to wear wire bras at any stage of pg. when i heard this (at 9 wks pg) i went out straight away to buy some mat bras. ALL the ones I have are 10DD wire. So I went for a fitting in myer and the lady asked me if I had already had it. LOL i know my bb's are big - but come on! LOL. She fitted me into lots of bras and finally we decided on a 12E. Mat bras have 6 sets of clips at the back and you should start on the tightest one, and the cup should be able to fit more in it, so that you can wear the bras longer. I bought a bra at myer and then went to harris scarfe and found the same one reduced from $69 down to $44. I always have to pay heaps for a good bra as I have FULL bb's. I envy those with small cups..... (you do not know how lucky you really are) :D
-
I went looking and couldn't find any maternity bras in a 10. Tried on a 12 but the tightest back fitting was miles too loose. So I am just continuing to wear some nice comfy t shirt bras but up in a 10 D now. Do they actually make maternity bras in a 10???? Surely there are some small framed people like me around having kids????

Bra's for melons
I thought this is an issue I need to address as I don't know what exactly to do.
I am normally a 12 DD bra size. by 8 weeks I moved into a 12 E and now at 14 weeks I am literally falling out of the 12E these are all maternity bra's.
Should I hang on and keep pushing them back into the 12 E for a little longer or just go ahead and try and find a 12 F?
I am freaked out panicking at exactly how big they will go... everything I have read suggests they will increase the most during breast feeding.
so what will i wear then ? 12 Z????
they are so darn expensive and I dont want to be buying bra's every other month.
not to mention the strain on my neck and shoulders....
suggestions ? where do I look for 12 f's??
-
try target they have large cup sizes and are quite inexpensive
also have ya thought of going up to a 14 i know i needed to move up a size cause of girth increasing rather than cup
-
I hear ya darls!!! I went to a bra shop just to make sure i had the right ones...and once i knew the correct size i bought a heap from Target.....much softer and i love them. Only i find the privacy panels (cant think what their real name is..lol) seems to not sit in the bra right? So maybe they are the wrong size now..... im a D cup now.....
I agree with what Rach said... go up the next size rather then just the cup..it makes a big difference!!!
-
I had to order mine from the undie's shop :) And yes they are expensive!! About $60!!!
Tanya
-
I'm a 14E, was a 14D before getting pregnant. I found the only place was at a bra shop or online. You'll be lucky to find maternity bras in the shops for those sizes. And yeah, about $60 a pop!
-
A good shop online where i got some from is DeBras...google it and it should come up.
-
Hi Delicate_Dove...I'm normally a 12E and have gone up to a 14F (so far!). There aren't any bras in these sizes at Target or Kmart. I'd suggest going to Myers and having one professionally fitted (you don't have to buy it) and then possibly looking online or waiting til Myer have a sale to get the size you need. When I got fitted recently, the lady checked to see if there would be enough room for when my milk comes in (by getting me to put my hand inside the cup) so I know I still have some room to move in the ones I've bought.
Triumph make good supportive maternity bras, but unfortunately like most of the girls have mentioned here, they are expensive. I spent $60-$70 on my bras.
-
Thanks , I have been looking on online and there are a few on ebay which are around $30
I have looked in target etc, and they never seem to have F's and I am way too embarrassed to ask.
Am I right in thinking if I went up to a 14 bra I would only need an E? the cup sizes change don't they ?
I find I have about 4 hooks left with a 12 so, I am not sure about going up though.
Hubby whines he can't lift them, what the heck does he think I have to do all day? lol
I hated when they were DD's now I really hate them cause not only are the an E ok, an F
they are a full rounded in your face F.
sigh.... oh how wonderful they are going to look when then deflate and sag..LOL
-
Oh you pooor thing... If you wanna send some over my way I would take your left overs LOL...
I always thought I might actually have cleavage when I got pregnant.... but no that was not to bee.... I was still wearing my paddes pushup bras in hospital hehehe... so if you want I willk pay the freight on your extra cup sizes!!!!!
But on a serious note... please dont be embarrased to ask for the correct size bra,m do you have a specialist bra shop that can do fittings... they will be used to a wide range of shapes & sizes!!!!... a few of my friends are large chested & have back probs, I
would hate to see you have unnecessary back probs cause of embarrasment!!!!...
Good lick...
-
I already have neck and back probs actually.. yeah for me..
but I think I will buy offline, seems cheaper especially If I have to buy bra's again in a few months...
I can think of better things id like to spend $60 on. (even though I know its required and important to be comfortable)
I think I just dislike them today and they don't deserve $60 bra's for their behavior..LOL
-
Delicate-Dove: You're right about cup sizes decreasing with increasing girth size. A 14A is equivalent to a 12B; so I'm assuming a 14E would be equivalent to a 12F.
-
Hi,
I am normally a 10D but am in a 14D at the moment. Although I have only put on a couple of kilos since getting pregnant (i'm 21 weeks), my boobs have exploded! I was fitted at David Jones and ended up going with an Elle McPherson "Maternelle" bra (cost $54.95). I have to say it is awesome! The lady suggested that I go up in number size (ie. 10 to a 14) rather than in cup size as it gives a bit more room for later and although they were slightly baggy in the nipple area initially they are filling out already so I think that it was a good way to go.
Good luck on your quest, it is an expensive exercise but it's important to look after our assets!:D

Hi DD,
I hear ya babe! Mine need their own post code, but I definitely agree with Shontelle... get fitted properly, if the fitter knows what they're doing you'll have room to grow and expand when your milk comes in. I was a 14DD pre preg and now a 16F at 20 weeks and like Shontelle, the scales have only added a couple of kilos. I'm in Triumph maternity and they are cumfy. With boobies this big its worth getting properly fitted for your backs sake. Hope thi helps hun, good luck.
-
hmmm, this is one of the things i've been thinking about during the TTC journey - how big can i possibly end up? i'm an 18DD normally - not looking forward to expanding any more than that!!! DH loves the idea, but i so don't want to have to go and pay a fortune in new bras!
-
I went from a 16DD to a 20GG... I kid you not.
I found going up a back size was good.
-
OMG - i so don't want anything like that to happen - but i guess if genetics is anything to go on, i've got now hope - my mum said she was glad she only had two, cos each pg, she got bigger and didn't shrink back!! i'm a DD to start - don't really want to end up permanently bigger than that
-
There's nothing you can do to stop them growing! *lol* They have minds of their own! Just wanted to let you know Delicate Dove that Myer are having 20% off Triumph bras...I know you wanted to look online, but the sale might help in reducing the price! :)
I would have loved to get a Maternelle bra, but the biggest cup size they have is E! Grrrr!
Has anyone found a largish (size F and upwards) maternity bra that is not covered in lace???
-
i was intrigued by the idea of finding nice maternity bra's in bigger sizes afer reading this thread, so had a quick net surf. there's a site called blestbras - has a section on maternity bras - there's a couple of really simple larger sized mat bras (up to G cup i think). HTH
-
i had to buy mine from bras n thingz and yeah they were bout $50 - $60 bucks i had to get a cup F...
FranStar - i couldnt find any at the time that weren't lacey in F's
-
Thanks for all the replies, I guess I'll have to make a trip to myer's but unfortunately 2nd trimester hasn't kicked in yet and I am still having vomiting days and lethargy.
So bra shopping seems traumatic right now.

Maternity bras
I am now 28 weeks. When should I buy my maternity bras. I remember someone saying wait until you're 7-8 months through, but not sure.
Has anyone else bought theirs yet? I would hate to go out & buy them and then find that my boobs grow even more!! I think they've stopped growing & DH seems to agree.
Let me know what you think......;)
-
hi
youre a lucky one! I had to buy 1 when I was only 10wks, my boobs went up a size.
but good thing is that they have stayed that size now (am not sure till how long), and I have a few of the maternity bras.
-
You should really get them from about 4-5 months - even if you are still comfortable because you will start producing milk/colostrum etc. and the underwire can cause blocked ducts and mastitis later on. I got them at about 4 months and made sure i have room for breast pads(not that Ive needed them yet!). Big W, Kmart and Target have them but I found the Lovable ones really comfortable and although they are expensive i was lucky enough to get 2 pairs of Elle McPherson ones from a friend and they are quite pretty too!
Good luck!
-
i went to a speciality bra shop, got properly fitted, and bought one for like $120 as i am now a 42F lucky me. then i was able to order the same one on ebay for like less then half the price
-
Sorry I should have clarified myself.
I bought several wire free bras once I found out I was pregnant. A store assistant who was just back from maternity leave said just get wire free until you're boobs stop growing. So I was just hoping that maybe now they have stopped growing...so I dont spend lots of money & then have to do it all over again.
-
Wire free is fine - maternity just have the clip so you can breastfeed. If I was you I wouldnt get maternity ones until later especially if you already have non-underwire ones. Ive always wondered why someone doesnt make pregnancy bras!! Without a drop down clip!!
-
I have bought a couple to tie me over the first couple of days after bub is born. Just cheap ones from Big W, one white one black. I did buy the one size bigger as I'm sure once my milk comes in, my boobs will be bigger. Also, I thought I'd better leave some space for breast pads. I don't think I'll buy any more until after the birth when I have a better idea of what my bra size will be.
-
I bought mine when I was about 4 months pregnant. None of my normal bras fit me and they werent comfortable anymore because of the wires. I went to Myer during one of their big sales and got some comfy Bonds maternity bras for half price and they still fir quite well.
-
I bought some maternity bras straight away, but just cheap ones :) I've just come back from being fitted for my 'proper' bras now, OMG I'm so glad I did, I would've got totally the wrong size LOL! I'm lucky and had a Myer voucher floating around in my purse, so I just went in there and asked for someone who could fit maternity bras. It was much less traumatic than I thought it would be :cryinglaugh:
-
Wire free bras are good until you start breast feeding. Keep using them until your breasts stop growing.
-
Thanks everyone, I think I will wait. There might just be a little more growing to be done by the sounds of it, plus it will be a good excuse to get out & about once bubs is born.
-
I got mine about 24 weeks I think. It was properly fitted which was really good and has heaps of hooks so it can be adjusted as you get bigger. I think getting fitted was really worth it cause I had no idea!
-
Just don't forget that you will need them in hospital....and it's not the sort of thing you can send someone out to get for you!
-
Karina, I love the Bonds ones...I got mine from Big W.
I bought a couple of maternity bras at approx. 5/6 months and was thinking that seeing as with DS #1 that the ones I bought whilst pg were fine after that I'd be ok....WRONG!! lol. My boobs actually went up just over another cup size when my milk came in and have stayed that way, so I had to buy more when I got out of hospital cos they were getting squashed.
-
i got my maternity bras about 20 weeks maybe? maybe abit earlier, cant exact remember. I grew out of my regulars, and so, for support, figured would just go straight to maternity. Have not had to get bigger ones yet.
With buying them so early, i figured that some time, eventually down the track, my boobs will get smaller, so will fit back into them.
I got mine from Myers, and i think they where $40 each - and where heaven!
-
I've had trouble finding some in size 10 - anyone purchased maternity bras in a 10???
