I bought several wire free bras once I found out I was pregnant. A store assistant who was just back from maternity leave said just get wire free until you're boobs stop growing. So I was just hoping that maybe now they have stopped growing...so I dont spend lots of money & then have to do it all over again.
Wire free is fine - maternity just have the clip so you can breastfeed. If I was you I wouldnt get maternity ones until later especially if you already have non-underwire ones. Ive always wondered why someone doesnt make pregnancy bras!! Without a drop down clip!!
I have bought a couple to tie me over the first couple of days after bub is born. Just cheap ones from Big W, one white one black. I did buy the one size bigger as I'm sure once my milk comes in, my boobs will be bigger. Also, I thought I'd better leave some space for breast pads. I don't think I'll buy any more until after the birth when I have a better idea of what my bra size will be.
I bought mine when I was about 4 months pregnant. None of my normal bras fit me and they werent comfortable anymore because of the wires. I went to Myer during one of their big sales and got some comfy Bonds maternity bras for half price and they still fir quite well.
I bought some maternity bras straight away, but just cheap ones :) I've just come back from being fitted for my 'proper' bras now, OMG I'm so glad I did, I would've got totally the wrong size LOL! I'm lucky and had a Myer voucher floating around in my purse, so I just went in there and asked for someone who could fit maternity bras. It was much less traumatic than I thought it would be :cryinglaugh:
Wire free bras are good until you start breast feeding. Keep using them until your breasts stop growing.
Thanks everyone, I think I will wait. There might just be a little more growing to be done by the sounds of it, plus it will be a good excuse to get out & about once bubs is born.
I got mine about 24 weeks I think. It was properly fitted which was really good and has heaps of hooks so it can be adjusted as you get bigger. I think getting fitted was really worth it cause I had no idea!
Just don't forget that you will need them in hospital....and it's not the sort of thing you can send someone out to get for you!

I bought a couple of maternity bras at approx. 5/6 months and was thinking that seeing as with DS #1 that the ones I bought whilst pg were fine after that I'd be ok....WRONG!! lol. My boobs actually went up just over another cup size when my milk came in and have stayed that way, so I had to buy more when I got out of hospital cos they were getting squashed.
i got my maternity bras about 20 weeks maybe? maybe abit earlier, cant exact remember. I grew out of my regulars, and so, for support, figured would just go straight to maternity. Have not had to get bigger ones yet.
With buying them so early, i figured that some time, eventually down the track, my boobs will get smaller, so will fit back into them.
I got mine from Myers, and i think they where $40 each - and where heaven!
I've had trouble finding some in size 10 - anyone purchased maternity bras in a 10???
I just bought 2 maternity bras from the target underwear sale, and they are the best ones I have had yet. They are just target brand with lace around the bottome. I am on the tightest clip at the moment, so there will still be room for me to expand. I think that is the important thing if you are buying them early, to make sure you have a little room to grow in them.
Oh, and a good tip - I got ones that have the moulded cups, not padded, just moulded because you can't see any shape of the nursing pads through thin tops, and they give you a little more shape, they don't flatten out your boosies like some of them do
Another tip is to nip into places like Myer etc as they have "bra extenders" which are essentially just more clips for the back. If the cup's still fitting you but the back isn't, then these extenders cost about $10-15 as opposed to $50-odd for the berlei / bonds brands.

I'm just wondering if anybody who has large breasts can help me out here. I'm having loads of trouble finding any maternity or soft cup bras that fit me and support me. I was an F cup before pregnancy, have a small frame though, and suspect I'm a G now. I'm 24 weeks along.
I have some maternity bras but have relegated them to sleeping bras because they just don't cut it for day wear. They don't support me properly, my breasts flop in them and because of that, they're uncomfortable. They also give me a crap shape.
The bras I have are Maternelle, and a Bendon one, plus Triumph. The Triumph isn't TOO bad, but comes up pretty high on the chest.
I tried on some underwired Fayreform G cups the other day - the wires around the sides are completely outside the breast, so they're not squashing anything. The wires in the centre are supposed to lie flat against the chest, but they can't because I have no 'gap'. They seem to fit pretty well - surely they wouldn't cause damage?
I still need maternity ones for later anyway, though.
This is really upsetting & annoying for me. I want to breastfeed and therefore don't want to damage any breast tissue, but I also want to be comfortable and don't want to ruin my breasts by wearing unsupportive bras.
Can anyone else out with there with the same bust size give me any advice?

hi - i dont have the same bust size but a friend of mine has and she ended up a specialist bra shop that fits larger breasted women and imports good brands from uk and europe. this is in melbourne. I can find out who it was or what the brand was. she also found it useful to go to the breast feeeding association for recommendations. hth and good luck!
Hi Suziette...I am in the same boat as you! At 20 weeks I was measured as being a 16F (my normal bra size was a 12E). Now at almost 31 weeks, I think I've progressed to the G cup. Bra wise, I purchased 2 Triumph maternity bras as they were the only ones that came in my size that gave some kind of support...but I have the same problem as you again...they sit up too high, so even just the smallest of scoop necklines shows the top of the cups! So annoying!
What I've done to combat this problem? I wear the maternity ones when my outfit says that I can (with numerous clothes adjustments throughout the day) and when we're going out somewhere special or the outfit demands it (maybe 1x a fortnight?) I wear a larger underwire bra. I bought a Fayreform G cup bra that fits fine but is definitely underwire...as you go along in your pregnancy though...these bras become quite uncomfortable after wearing them for a few hours as the underwire starts to hurt your tummy...not a nice feeling!
My advice? *lol* Triumph for everyday support and comfort...wear underwire only if you must and not very often. As I like to try on all my bras, the option of purchasing over the internet didn't interest me so I was limited to what was available in the shops. HTH!

I am in the same boat as you. I have been using an online store called Blest Bras for both my maternity and regular bras. They can be expensive but are cheaper then the shops. I think they are fantastic and worth a look at.
