Well I haven't lost any weight but I haven't put any on either so thats a good start :)
How're you doing, Samantha-Jane?
I had my first OB appointment on Friday and the midwife weighed me and I was horrified to see that I'm almost 79kg! I knew our scales at home are a bit crap, but I'm thinking of just chucking them out now, they only put me at 75kg. Although to be fair, when the midwife weighed me, I was wearing jeans, sneakers and a jacket AND I'd literally just wolfed down lunch. So I'm thinking maybe I'm around 77kg. I hope! It really freaked me out though so for the past day or so I've been trying to eat a lot more healthily. Didn't help when my Mum showed up today with choc chip cookies AND muffins. Luckily for me, I'm still off sweet things a bit, so I only ate one cookie.
But argh! I don't want to get obsessed with my weight, but I've been feeling a bit unhappy today about it. Doesn't help that my regular clothes (esp jeans) have now gotten a bit too tight to be comfortable, but all my old maternity clothes are still too big. Ill-fitting clothes don't do much for the self-esteem. Sigh. I hate feeling so ugly. :shakehead:
Sorry for the rant!
Try not to get too obsessed. Thanks to PCOS and terrible eating habits (skipping meals) my BMI before falling pregnant was 41. Shocking! I was super worried about putting on weight during pregnancy and becoming the size of a house, but so far at 22 weeks I've only put on 1.5kg and it all seems to be baby. Even though my belly is growing, I've been told my face and other parts of my body look slimmer. It may sound strange but currently I'm at my heaviest and I've never felt more confident. I love my body for the first time ever. Sure I still have "fat" days where nothing looks good, but overall I feel great. The secret for me has been actually eating. All I do is eat, if I crave something I eat it cause I figure I must need it, and my metabolism is obviously starting to speed up.
Obviously being this weight isn't ideal and I've missed out on being in the MGP like I wanted, but I don't see the point stressing about it. I weigh myself every Friday (and only every Friday) so I can keep an eye on things since I don't want to put on too much, but so long as my weight is staying steady I'm not going to worry.
As far as clothes, I got a pair of loveable maternity pants which are AMAZING! They're just like yoga pants and are so comfy. I got another pair from an overseas store but I had such problems I'm hesitant to recommend them. Look around online, there's loads of plus size maternity stuff though some is a little pricey. Pumpkin Patch also seems to have some larger sizes.
I'm also about to start prenatal yoga and one of the ladies in my belly buddies group just got a pregnancy exercise DVD (pretty sure its called preggi belly) which is apparently really good so I'm going to get that too.
Stay positive ladies! Sure we may not be our 'ideal' weight, but our bodies are still doing something amazing :)

hello beautiful blossoming women!
I will be weighing myself at mums tomorrow (no scales athome). A week and a 1/2 ago I was 'stable'. And from my angle, my belly is looking lovely! I had a look in the mirror though...and well - I won't be on the cover of vanity fair! But I feel great.
Foodwise has been a bit hit and miss...bit tired and distracted I guess...but I have my scan on tuesday - I think I will feel more focused after that.
My ligaments are making themself known (3rd pregnancy, so all normal), and some days I feel about 45 weeks...other days I feel not pregnant! I am getting movements now (21 weeks), which is reassuring and lovely.
I hope you are all being gentle with yourselves. You are all beautiful women, thank you for sharing your Journeys.
xoxo
Aww thanks Catherine and Miss Dee. It's so nice to read lovely messages like that when you are feeling a bit crap.
Catherine - Maybe that's a good idea, weighing yourself at someone else's place, so you don't give in to the temptation of weighing every day! I think I will be weighed at each visit to my OB, but at this stage that's only every 6 weeks, I definitely want to keep a closer eye on it than that!
Miss Dee - Sounds like you're doing really well! Only 1.5kg at 22 weeks! I think I've gained 3kg so far and I'm only 12 weeks! It's hard to say for sure though, with my rubbish scales. And yeah, I really need some more maternity clothes. Mothercare has a really good range now, and I'm going to check out Next online, they ship free from the UK! Much more reasonable prices than some of the stores here.
Hi all.
I am still stable in my weight. I also had my scan - one very healthy bubba inside. My placenta is high and at the back (so nicely out of the way). I can now start planning my homebirth! (yay me)
I hope you are all feeling well and looking after yourselves.

Its an awful feeling when the scales go up I feel for you :) rant away its good for us :smile I haven't been able to fit into a pair of jeans since I was pregnant with my 2 1/2yo son :eek
I hope you've been well xx
MissDee !
Your a such a postive person its nice to hear how you've dealt with putting on weight, I wish I didn't stress about it so much but I do :( I'd love to know what Maternity stores you shop at ? I'm on the hunt for a pair of Maternity jeans and not having much luck finding nice ones
Catherine
Wonderful news your weight is stable ! :) when are you due ?
Sorry for the late reply everyone I'm so sick with MS I barely funtion
hi girls! I'm just newly pregnant. and overweight. blah. i didn't want to get pregnant at this weight but i came to the conclusion that i'd never have another baby if i kept waiting to lose weight because it just wasn't happening as fast as i wanted and i'm not getting any younger. lol I am hoping that ms will help me lose a little and that all i've heard about overweight women not gaining much during pregnancy is true! I gained 26kgs last pregnancy and most of it is still on me unfortunately. I was 90kg when i delivered him and i'm currently 85kgs(i'm only 5'3 BMI is 33.2). I've gained 2kgs in the last couple of weeks. not happy with that!! My ms has not kicked in yet. I am hoping to maintain my weight more then anything. At least until the last trimester.
hi S-J
saw the midwife last week: I am a "mallee bull"...so fit and healthy, all good! Weighed muself at mums, still stable.
I am now 24 weeks. Due mid september. Getting lots of kicks, which is nice
and forgive me if this is TMI (but I bet we've all been there!) I have a cough at the moment (I feel fine, but when I lay down, I cough cough cough)...and I have to wear a maternity pad: to catch the escapee wee! This is my third pregnancy, and I have been feeling the loosening ligament thing for a while...so I suspect it has alot to do with that! I am soooo glamarous!
I hope you are all doing well.

Hey Ladies ! :)
I'm sorry I haven't replied for so long my MS has been awful  I hope you're all doing well I hope to post again when I'm feeling better
xx
Samantha
Its so hard starting out overweight and trying not to gain in pregnancy! Im 33 weeks now, and have gained 4.7kg (but bubs/placenta and fluid is estimated at 6kg at this stage) so technically have lost weight hehe!
Ive just tried to stay active, but have had reflux so can only eat small meals, which I think helps
How's everyone ? :)
MS dropped for a while but now back a little. Im up to 94kg (Im 5"7) :( so I've gained 4kgs but I do think that's normal at 4 months pregnant (1kg per month does that sound right ? ) Anyway I'm trying not to stress.
Catherine I know the feeling ! I've had weak pelvic floor muscles since the birth of my first son, it's a little embrassing but I hear so many other women suffer too so its makes me feel better:p
Not long now until bub arrives are you organised ? :)
Trishalishous
I hope you don't get any MS its just dreadful, I hope you manage to lose weight  its awful feeling so big isn't it.......... I was 85kg full term with my son and within a few months got back down to 72kgs which I was happy with, lack of sleep and bad eating habbits all contribute to my weight :(
Im sure we'll get there eventually !
I hope everyone is well

I forgot about this part of the forum!
i have hyperemesis so i've lost 5kgs. I'm not sure when it will end so not sure if i'll end up losing anymore or not. I'm just eating lots of soup since it agrees with me ok. and drinking lots of water so i don't get dehydrated. the good thing is that i am soooo off sweets. my mum bought me some m&ms today and i can't eat them. wish i could!
Im doing well, have gained 5kg total at nearly 35 weeks (eating like a pig too!)
Feeling good, very tired though, this time around!
Im hoping to come home from hospital at my starting weight, and then work on the excess 30kg I want off!
My MS was normal this time, last time I had HG so lost 17kg during the pregnancy (and was underweight to start with) and birthed a huge baby, a tiny baby and massive placenta. I think the hormone swing was less with only one baby on board, which helped for sure!
2 cheekyboys, my HG was pretty much gone around 25 weeks, but I was on meds from 18 weeks which helped a lot. This time I took the meds from 5 weeks just in case, as my body couldnt handle HG again, and that (combined with only one bellyfruit) seems to have helped.
I'm on zofran, have been since the start. last time my HG lasted until 24wks. seems to be a common time for it to end. I'm just hoping it ends sooner this time. i'm at the end of my rope :(
oh that sucks! I was lucky that maxalon worked (as long as I set my timer and took it every 5 hours around the clock) with Zofran as backup if I did end up missing a dose.
The fact that this time was easier has been the deciding factor in 'thinking about talking about trying for a third child'
Hope everyone is well ?
My MS has gone ! haven't gained anymore weight sitting at 95kg (little bummed I haven't lost any but not gaining is good too)
I hope you all have a lovely weekend
xx
I ended up gaining 5-6kg, and birthed a 4.5kg son.
Now at 2 days PP, Im back to my starting weight.
