Ok il be honest.....my first pregnancy i found out at ......22 1/2 weeks. Yep thats right. I was very young i had no idea what the signs of pregnancy were the most i had was a few fainting spells at work but everyone put it down to having been standing at a checkout for x amout of hours.
Nope. My cousins daughter was a size 8 :o Being her second baby you'd think she'd know the signs too but she hardly gained any weight, her periods continued and she felt pretty well and normal. It's so hard to fathom!:
With my first and third I knew almost immediately as we were actively TTC and used clomid with DS1 and alternative therapies with DS3.
DS2 was an oopsie, and I had no idea I was pg until nearly 7 weeks. We conceived without AF returning after I'd had DS1 (there's 20 months between them).
I only tested with DS2 because I'd had several days of feeling midly nauseous and I wanted to go the chemist to get something for it. I knew I'd be asked if I was pregnant and I remember joking with DH that I'd better do a test just so I could honestly tell the pharmacist I wasn't. The joke was on us!! :)
A friends wife didnt find out until she was 20ish weeks. What a shock.
She wasnt exactly "skinny" but not really overweight either.
Gosh seriously? That's my dream!! I would love to bypass the first 20 weeks & wake up dreamily ready for my anatomy scan! I would love to bite those folks who don't get morning sickness,bite them I tells you!
Id be curious to know in alot of the late term surprise cases how many of the women were using birth control. Even using birth control I was always paranoid about pregnancy, but it was drilled into me no birth control meant you could ALWAYS get pregnant no matter how often you have sex, how old you are etc.
I can believe that someone might not know until 20wks or so, especially in a first pregnancy; no way do I believe it *never* crossed their minds when they were what ended up being term. Even the most languid babies can pack a mean kick and it would have me running for a full body scan if that were me! I truly think there is always an element of denial somewhere deep down.
Freya - Having never experienced it myself, I agree with you - I just don't know how it couldn't have crossed someone's mind or there was nothing that happened to make them suspect.
I was told of a girl I played sport against who played that day and ended up in hospital with stomach cramps that night and had a baby. She was quite young - perhaps just finishing or out of high school, so I always wondered whether it was more 'denial' than not knowing....
My brother and his partner found out at 20 weeks. She had very irregular cycles so it wasn't uncommon to skip periods but thought after 4 months without one she should do a test and ta-daa. They were both workaholics and kids weren't on the cards, not to mention the fact my brother thought he was shooting blanks. At the scan they were told they had 2 days to make a decision to terminate or not before it was to late, needless to say I now have a very adorable 8.5 month old niece :)
