Oh I don't know what is worse, mum being right or getting stretchmarks .
Lol your mum liiieeesss :P
I was so paranoid about stretch marks, I have those little ones that you get from weight loss/gain (yo-yoed pretty bad for the last few years, from severely underweight to about 20kgs over and then back) and I didn't want any more, so I was furiously rubbing in Palmer's Cocoa Butter products two and three times a day to try and stop them...
Got to about 30 weeks and was all smug, bragging and recommending Palmer's to everyone, then I got out of bed one morning, saw myself in the bathroom mirror and just about died - instead of the tiny, silver stretch marks I'd expected, my belly and hips had suddenly sprouted gigantic, angry-looking red snakes all over them! I literally cried hahaha, got over it pretty quickly but yeah, I was spewing. They just magically appeared during the night, despite my best efforts :(
Sorry to burst the bubble here, but...
I didnt have ANY AT ALL ANYWHERE - was over the moon! yay!
Then I hit 36 weeks.
they started as just a tiny red mark, under my belly, like the button on my jeans had been digging in when I was sitting down, kwim? DH noticed it, and I dismissed it....then they grew from there.
I only got them on the belly between my pubic bone and belly button, about a handsize worth, but I got more and more lol was devastated!
They are faded now though, only took a few months :)
I hope you dont get any though....just remember that if your belly starts getting mroe and more itchy to put on whatever cream/oil you are using more and more often - like 5 times a day.
I didn't have any with ds1 till 38 weeks, then some started appearing on my lower tummy. With ds2 new ones started around 38 weeks, they come up in line to my belly button. The older stretchmarks are faded so you can barely see them now and the newer ones are fading now too, but still redder than the oldies, I've also been using bio oil religiously! I should buy shares
I've had them for aaagggeesss!!!
I'm used to them. They dont bother me so much. They will fade eventually.
I have an overhang that I can't quite see, so maybe I need to stand on a mirror to see if there is anything. Then again... maybe I don't want to see myself at that angle...
Oh and I thought I was going so well too with not having any on my belly yet! Lol! I'm guessing that they are just waiting a little while longer to show their face.
Actually, I do already have one stretch mark, but it's not on my belly, it's on my breast! I didn't get too upset about it though because I always wanted to be a little bigger in the chest department, and I guess a stretch mark proves that they have grown substantially during the pregnancy :)
Both babies born 39wks, first time I got none and second baby I got a few very small light ones in the last few weeks, but didnt really notice them til after the birth. I think its cause I carried very low, so lots of extra weight down there and I couldnt see that area till after the birth.
With both pregnancies I used apricot kernal oil everyday, up till the last few weeks where I got lazy - dont know if conincidence but thats when the marks turned up.
