Parenting after LT TTC #3

Hi everyone

Had MG today and we learnt all about baby massage, Tara wouldn't keep still and wanted to roll all over the floor but managed to do some to her anyway. It must have had some effect though as she feel asleep after the massage and since we've been home she had her lunch and bottle and has crashed out.

So I'm gonna get me some natural massage oil and maybe start massaging her to help her sleep during the day.

Mmm, think I'm coming down with something as well... Sore throat, ear ache and headaches. Hopefully something that will pass quickly...

:hello: God, ir just took me 10 minutes to find the little wavy man to say hello, talk about procrastination when you're supposed to be studying! Just wanted to say hi.

Adam was fine after his injections, maybe a little drowzy yesterday.

I'm feeling a bit better, just a mild cold.

I'm very upset about my poor dog though, she has torn her cruciate ligament and needs surgery which apparently is only 75% successful, so basically she will never be the same again :cry: They told us that she will definitely now develop arthritis in that knee after the surgery if not before. Poor doggie, I love her so much.

Glad to hear Charlie is a trooper pooer Smithy!

I think i have a serious deep-thinker on my hands. but he did attempt a couple of giggles and was all smiles for my BIL who he met this mornning (my sis and him are visiting from FNQ to meet Ash :) )

oh dear murph... what have you got "must live near a ferry'' on your wedding certificate? lol.

how good is the cool change on the east coast??? yyyaayy. bit sticky now but good.

We had a very busy day yesterday... out all day so ash only got snatches of naps.... as a result he konked out at 4.30pm on our bed, i couldn't rouse him at 8pm for a feed so dreeam fed him and he didn't wake up for more till 1.30am! then straight back to bed til 5am for another few hours.

But he's met his aunty and uncle today and a GF came by so it's been a bit of overload and he was only napping, maybe doing an hour... everyone gone now so he's out cold.

But we are well. he's doing that thing were he has max 5 mins on the boob then doesn't want anymore. he was doign so well but all the sudden is fussing again. so i'm not pushing the issue like i usually do and he seems quite content and is doing lots of wet/dirty nappies. it's so confusing as a few days ago he was taking half an hour or more and feeding off both sides very happily. so we'll just keep going and i'll keep sneaking both sides inot him while he's alseep lol.

Yeah Grub, I thought the massage was a bit of a furfy as well but jeez has it made Tara sleep this afternoon.

She slept for 30 minutes at MG, came home had lunch and a bottle and down to sleep for 1 1/2 hours. She woke again starving and had a full bottle and then went back to sleep again and has been there for another 1 1/2 hours so far.

We learnt how to do leg massages and also massage the tummy to help with colic. Although Tara hasn't had colic she is very "farty bum" since starting solids so I think the tummy massage may have helped to relieve some of the wind for her. But hey I'm all for trying anything if it means she sleeps for more than 30-45 minute intervals during the day and also means she doesn't wake up crying because she has a big burp in her tummy.

Smithy: How gorgeous is your Charlie (i looked at your pics) she looks like she is very wise and has been here before. So you could be in for some trouble hehe...

:D aww kelly thank you hun,you are the 3rd person who has said that she looks like shes been here before wow :o and its quit freaky actually hun as when coops and i were going through all the ivf he lost his father to cancer and we used to talk to him through falling shooting stars and get him to help us to get a miracle baby so im truely thinking its coops dad in her and his helped us get our wish :D i really do ,this might sound silly to some but this is what i believe as dont they say for every death a new life is born ,im just so sad that coops dad did not get to see his grand daughter .again hun thank you .

Smithy your story gave me goosebumps, but I do believe that every baby born has a guardian angel looking over them. I'm so happy Charlie has a special angel looking over her as even though your FIL couldn't meet her in person I think that he is with her in spirit.

I'm another one who thinks there is something beyond this life (not sure what though). When I was going through the last IVF cycle, my Mum's partner died and I had to make the hardest decision ever, to keep going with the IVF and not go to the funeral. I did go down to Melb to be with her for the few days after he died and kept taking all my drugs, and then I had to go back up north for my transplant. I felt so terrible and it sounds cliche but I know he would have been so happy for us and wanted us to go through with the IVF so I chose to keep going with it. It was so much more important that this cycle was the one that produced our miracle. She really was the sunshine after the rain. My Mum always says when a door closes, a window opens. I'm not sure I know what that means, but I like the thought of it. It's a lovely story Smithy and I'm sorry your FIL couldn't be around, but I'm sure you feel he is there sometimes.

Ooh, just checked out my ticker....nooooooo. That means more injections. I've been holding onto the 16 weeks and not calling it 4 months, but at 17 weeks and 1 day tomorrow, I guess I have to face the big 4 months.

Haha, at least my sister can lay off me about..."OMG she's not even 4 months and you are feeding her solids...and it's not even Farex:o" well puree actually, it's hardly solids and I'm not really feeding her much other than BM, but I've tried some safe stuff and honestly, it depends who you talk to, there is so much conflicting advice out there about the 4 month v 6 month debate and hold off on certain foods or don't:doh: I just use plain old common sense, which is not all that common these days. I guess I just do what feels natural but I think you tread carefully and find what works.

Kelly, hearing you tell Smithy you got goosies reading her story, I remember reading that you gave up your city lifestyle and downsized to move to rural Vic and afford IVF. That's such a lovely story and such a fairytale ending (or beginning) that you deserve. We downsized to move up north and be closer to Andrew's field work sites, but can't claim it was in order to afford IVF. IVF was for other people (desperate people;)), not us, we only did it after a long time of denying we needed it (oh, those god awful foul herbs...and for nought!!! I was a bit slow to realise that 15 years with no contraception and no pgs kinda put us in the desperate category a long time before we knew about it:doh:

Can you even believe that we are all here in this thread??? I still can't. I am just so in love and so never thought I would enjoy all the baby days but I don't wish away time at all. I was asked about my plans to return to work and study today,but I just answered that I have a 4 month old baby and that's all I know or care about right now. I will pick up the study again but not for a while and I have to be full-time carer for Jazz as well as Mum anyway so I couldn't work even if I wanted to (and I don't). Full credit to you Mums that have gone back to work and study. It must be so hard for you.

Jazz had her first therapy session and it was a fun experience so I am starting to have a bit more faith in persevering with her hearing aids until she has her surgery. See how good I was, I didn't even refer to them as those god-damn annoying whistling things that do my head in!! That would be too much like complaining:p Scary and exciting news, the implants may be done by the time she is 6 1/2 months...check the ticker...not long. We have to have her anaesthetised for her cat scans and MRIs before then to assess her suitability so that's a bit full-on but we just have to do it and not let fear hold us back.

Oh dear, canyou tell, I'm all alone at home with my DH in America? Haha, Murphy's Law, everything has gone wrong with the house in his absense of course and I'm sat in the dark cos my solar ran too low, the batteries have shat in all this rain, my water pump stopped as a consequence, so more ironic that an Alanis Morissette song, it's been raining cats and dogs for days,I could raft down my creek and I have no water to my house and my toilet is smelling like a bleedin thunderbox crapper cos I can't flush it. Im in the daintree in the wet season drinking Frantelle bottled water from my cyclone kit...so not cool. oh and just incidentally, how many times do you think one person of fairly average intelligence can go to turn on a tap, or flush a loo without realising :doh:, no water. Well, it's lots. Oh great, gotta go use the thunder box. Just needed to share. Oh and did i mention, the generator won't turn on..yeeeeeehaaahh. kangaroo Island, here I come!!!!!!!!!

Morning to all the other wonderful mums in this thread.

ATM So tired, how do we cope? seriously I didn't know I could function on so little sleep. My mum came over yesterday and held Linc in the sling so I could sleep I LOVE MY MUM!

Had a bit of a barnie with DH last night cos he's going on holidays for 3 weeks to Kangaroo Island to work on his house but cos Linc is still so unsettled I can't go and will really really really miss his company and suport.

I feel a bit trapped at home at the moment and I think it's getting to me. Linc is cluster feeding and didn't sleep very much yesterday. Last night he was very very sooky and just wanted food all the time. I managed to get him to sleep at 1am but when he woke at 4am he was so demanding and fed for almost 2 hours. He's now asleep in the sling but "yawn" I really want another hour or so too, bit scared to move him incase he wakes up.

Green: I'm hearing you and sending you a big :hug:. You know how in the Asian culture new mum's aren't allowed out of the home for a month after birth, well I reckon this applies to all cultures although in most cases it's due to lack of sleep and constantly feeding. Bummer about DH leaving you for 3 WEEKS, ahhh.... it is so hard when the babies are little to upheave them especially when you are still trying to get a routine but sounds like you have a good mum there who is helping.

Murph: How does the saying go "Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink". Don't think you will be needing a cyclone kit on KI, maybe just stores for when it gets soooo cold in winter you won't want to leave the house. You were so nice to mention about our tree change to have Tara, it wasn't an easy decision to make at the start. Living a good lifestyle with 2 city incomes, to dropping down to 1 country income but the sacrifices were so worth it in the end. We might be doing it tough sometimes, but I would rather be doing it tough and be at home with Tara instead of being in the city and having to return to work ASAP to be able to afford to live IYKWIM. For some reason doing it tough in the country doesn't seem as bad..

Well DH has had to go to Melb today for a funeral, so just me and my girl at home again. My little Miss Piggy has now moved up to 2 solid feeds a day, rice cereal and a full bottle in the morning, lunch and a half bottle around midday and then her normal dinner and bed bottles. She still has the same volume of milk each day but she loves her solid food as well and she is not fussy what she eats, so far everything offered (savoury & sweet) all goes down, so looks like she takes after daddy with her food as well.

Murph: I remember you mentioning Jazzy had a touch of 'Ranga' in her, I think Tara can beat that, her hair looks so red in photo's but not so much in person (unless you get her in bright sunshine).

Smithy: I have posted the public link here for you, so you don't need a FB account to see the pics.

Thought I should drop in and try to get a bit up to date as next week I will be flat out.

Kelly - Tara is just gorgeous, porcelin skin, big blue eyes and striking red hair - Beautiful! Your country life sounds lovely, coming from NZ I miss the wide open spaces sometimes.

Smithy - good to hear that the poo situation is well under control now. Charlie is just beautiful and growing up so much already.

Green - Yes the cluster feeding can be such a hard time and so very tiring. It doesn't last forever (thank goodness!). Try and get out for a short walk or a coffee if you can - I found that if I made a concerted effort to get out of the house at least once a day for a walk I managed to keep my sanity - it helped even if I was tired.

Murph - Oh no! You poor thing - not being able to flush the toilet would drive me up the wall! I have a thing about toilets - a bit phobic/OCD about the cleanliness of toilets... don't have that obsession about anything else needing to be that clean, not quite sure where it comes from, but I have a real problem even using the toilets at work! Good to hear that the first therapy session went well. Wow I can't believe that she could have implants by 6 1/2months - that is not far away at all.

Grub - I agree with everyone else - very cool dude in your ticker. Babies do get very efficient at BF after a little while, Jasmine went from taking about 1/2 an hour each side to only taking about 5 minutes. I agree with you - if he is happy and doing lots of wet nappies, then just go with what he is telling you.

Neptune - sorry to hear about your doggie :(

Hello to everyone else that I have missed.

AFU - well as mentioned our trip was fantastic. We had so much fun at Disneyland and Universal Studios. Hawaii was just gorgeous weather with lots of relaxation and swimming. My gorgeous DH sent me on a 4 hour spa - 1 hour exfoliation, 1 hour facial, 1 hour massage and 1 hour pedicure. Then when I got back to the room Jasmine and DH gave me a beautiful Pearl and Diamond necklace. Have I mentioned before how awesome my DH is and how much he spoils me??? We are now on the countdown to starting back at work. On Monday we have nursery for 2 hours (with me staying with Jasmine). On Tuesday we do 2 hours again, but this time I go away and Jasmine stays on her own. Then Wednesday it is the real deal! My DH is going to be on call for the week in case Jasmine doesn't last the whole day. Looking forward to getting back to work, but not looking forward to being apart from my little buddy. Wish us luck!

I can't do anything but watch TV and read a book while nursing cos he's such a fuss pot. Hey great news on the loo! always good to have lovely neighbours when you live remotely like you do.

kelly - I lurve the look on her face. That girl gonna give you lip when she's older hahhaahaha

smithy - how is charlie trundling? obviously the poo is better but are you both well? how old is she now?

Green - I would have been livid at my DH if he were to ditch me for 3 weeks at this stage. Men! Did you sort anything out from your barney? If you are feeling tired and trapped at home now, you probably could do with his support. But i know what you mean... when you take into account the last few weeks of pregnancy when you hardly leave the house through exhaustion and then the hospy time and first few weeks finding your feet you realise you've been in those 4 walls for months!

I've been going a bit stir crazy and have said to DH we HAVE to do at least one thing out of the house every weekend cos i need to see the world! i hope you get some rest darling.

Just remember he won't be like this forever, in fact only a couple of weeks really and he'll change his feed/sleep pattern. The good thing about bubs I suppose is they change so often.

hi Marcellus and Acacia! and Lenny and bw and all the lovely mummies (don't you just hate the term yummy mummy ugh).

afm - we are well, mostly. Feeding Ash is a battle ground and I'm feeling very defeated atm. i know i said i'd try to relax a bit but its hard. I don't know if maybe i'm forcing it when he doesn't want it or what. not sure. he fed well this morning and didn't even cry! But when he woke at 4am (3hrs after his last feed) i changed his nappy and offered him boob... he fussed and cried and carried on. I was tired so thought, too bad kid and put him back to bed. He promptly fell asleep and woke at 6.30am and fed well. So wonder if I'm offering it too much iykwim. oh i'm so confused. Only know i can't keep doing what we are doing, it's wearing me down. I also think he's in the middle of changing his pattern of feed/sleep and we had a huge week of visitors and an enitre day out of the house so none of that has helped.

oh dear. RAMBLING!

DH is taking me for chai today yayay. and I managed to leaave the house without Ash for the first time! got my hair cut :) looking snazzy now ladies lol.

Yay for Murph and a flushing loo. I couldn't cope not being able to flush, I'm with Janie that is one thing I'm paranoid about.

Janie: 4 hours of pampering, can you send your DH my way so I can get some of what your having. Plus a bonus piece of jewelley to go with it, ahh I can only dream. Good luck with the DC next week and the return to work, I don't know if/how I would be able to return to work myself.

Grub: :lol: trust me I already cop an earful most days from a bossy little miss, she already has a temper and lets me know all about it. As for Ash's change in feeding patterns, it was around 8 weeks of age that Tara starting sleeping through the night. Even now she will have fussy times at night but it is just a case of replacing the dummy and back off to sleep she goes. Maybe Ash is getting to the stage of not needing regular feeds during the night and is happy to go back to sleep without booby time.

BW: I hope this week at work has been better for you.

Green: I agree with Grub, by the time Tara was 6/8 weeks old I was so sick of looking at the same 4 walls and eveynight I would be on DH's back to talk to me and tell me what happens out in the "real world". Have you had a Mothers Group organised for you yet, I have found mine to be my sanity and as you are with other mum's everyone understands your good, bad and ugly days.

Neptune: Poor puppy, how long will he be out of action for??

Smithy: So happy to hear Miss Charlie is all back to normal now on the poo front..

Marcellus, Lenny & Acacia, big hello to you all as well.

Well it's 9.30am and DH and Tara are asleep in the big bed. Tara now has a new habit of waking between 7.30-8.00am every morning and we bring her into our bed, where she has a chat and a play and then goes back to sleep again. This morning however she dedcided it would be fun to turn sideways (on mummy's side of course) so I ended up getting pushed out of bed, but only after I got some snuggles while she went back to sleep. It was so nice as she is not a snuggly baby and usually likes her own space to sleep. Anyway I better get some breakfast before the house wakes up and everyone else wants feeding. Have a good day everyone.
