Pregnancy after Long Term TTC #6 - 2009

Hello... it's very scary joining a new thread when you've spent so long in the last one, but hello anyway and can I join in please?

I already know Lise, Mitf, Airline and Seph and I've read from page 1 (taken me an hour and a half!) but I won't try any personals now. I hope you are well and travelling well.

I'm 4.5 weeks pregnant, after my third IUI. I got pregnant on the first go, but lost the baby at 9 weeks. I'm feeling a lot more confident about this one, my HCG is much better (after three tests!) and I'm already racked with MS, my nipples are now about 66% of my boobs (and they are DD anyway, so that's rather scary), I'm shattered. I'm going to NZ for a week on Friday and then we have a scan on the Tuesday when we get back and I'm only going to create a ticker after that....

But just wanted to say hello and hopefully I'll be back a week on Tuesday. :bellyrubs: for all. x

and vitamin e cream - start rubbing it on your nipples NOW! lol. it helps with the itchiness and tenderness.

saph - that's good your doc is so understanding. remember the law is on your side, stuff your boss. what kind of person is mean to a preggy lady?? brh. And that's so exciting about about the C-sect date :)

have my midwife appointment this morn and my sis arrives this arvo :) DH has a big exam today... but he'll be home in THREE weeks. THREE THREEE THREEHTEHTHE HHHHAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH.

Saph - I see you are a teacher...I was in a past life too and they certainly make it difficult to get time off don't they? Also it is a bugger having to leave lessons for others etc..sometimes it feels easier just to go in rather than take the time off!!! But you insist! I took a month off just before I resigned with this pregnancy. I had resigned and was finishing at the end of term and school year in July(we finish in July here for Summer) and in June was getting too stressed and sick so I made sure my reports were done and got a sick note for one month. So I literally came back for two days before the end of the school year!! Gave me a chance to say goodbye to the kids and my colleagues but ensured my sanity and health. My school was a hell hole though and going through all sorts of rubbish with a psycho temp headteacher and severely deteriorating behaviour from the kids. The day I was almost trampled by a group of 11 year old boys while on playground duty was the final straw for me! Teachers get too much of a guilt trip put on them anyway. Take whatever time you need. Get that principal in to teach your kids...they could do with a bit of real teaching once in a while to bring them back to earth and make them realise how hard we work!!! Thanks for the story about your Poppy! There are some kids who make it all worth it. My little girl in my last class who made my day was called Zarlsht (pronounced Zarlarsht) Her name was Arabic (like 98% of my class as they were 98% Muslim!!! The other two percent were Eastern European!) Cool name though hey!

Lise, Mitf, Grub and everyone else who has supported me and encouraged me with my family dramas, Thanks so much! You have no idea how much these last few days of me being able to talk about this has helped heal a broken family! I confronted my Dad about a few things and he is no longer going to force my stepmother on us. He actually said he believed that she has serious mental problems and as she is not seeming to be willing to accept help, that the best he can do is keep her away from the people he loves so that she can hurt them no longer. We have offered him support if he feels he has to leave her and I know that he will be spending the next few months thinking this over. He has said that he will come to visit us on his own and acknowledges that even he feels better when she is not around! I told him that if she makes him happy then that is great but he married her, we didn't . She has been so poisonous to my brother and me over the years that we cannot play happy families anymore. Dad even said he is worried about her influence over my baby. Her own adopted children don't want to know her. When she visited one of her sons in hospital she said something to him and he actually screamed at the nurses 'get this woman out of my room!' Her other son has decided not to have children as he is still so scarred from his childhood with her. In fact one of the first things he said to my brother when he first met him was 'so have you worked out yet how much of a b**ch my mother is?' Men she has previously had a relationship with have said to my father that they cannot believe he is still with her! So you sort of get the idea that it is not just me being a difficult stepdaughter!!!
Anyway the crux of it is that Dad and I have decided to forge a new relationship together that does not involve her. He will see me on his own and he is happy with that as he has seen that everyone is happier without her around (even him!) Now he just needs to decide whether he stays with her. I leave that completely up to him and will not pressure him either way.

Anyway hopefully that is the last of my family dramas for a while. It is unbelieveable that just a little bit of venting on here and your supportive messages has done so much.... Thanks so much!!!

AFM - nothing new - waiting waiting waiting!!!! Was having alot of painless braxton hicks this morning so took the dog out for a short walk praying that maybe something was happening - but no everything has settled :lol:. Appt and monitoring tom - which i'm looking forward to - you would think i would be sick of spending so much time making trips to the hosp but i actually enjoy it - weird i know! Anyway another hot but beautiful day in Melbourne.
Hope everyone is looking after themselves.

Grub I'm not wanting any tears rip or cry. OUCH. :D the garden and I are well aquanted atm. I go out most mornings to check on my patch and water every other night, via dripper or hand (depending on stupid water restrictions). DELUX facial sounds so good, and support arrives yayaya. Hope you are taking it easy. My bubs is already central but no launch yet ;)

I still have trouble saying "no" to people as I get scared opportunity may not knock twice, but I'll go to the info session on the 23rd and see what I feel at the time, I might see if I can have someone cover for me for the fist 4 weeks then if I don't want to go back there's someone there already. Sorry to hear about the neighbour, I bet his eyes popped out of his head!

Bella thanks for the advice, I'm starting to get a picture Wow you sound like your being watched closely which is good, hope you have a good aircondish and lots of good movies, daytime tv is awful. Funny how I loved it when I was at Uni now it's tragic.

Saph thanks for your input, I am going back to my Managers job in April for similar reasons that you stated but only part time with the option to work from home, The tafe work was a bonus and I really didn't think they started till march which would have been great. Feb is way to early but I guess they're not moving the dates for me.

Lise :rofl: my bra is the first thing to go when I get home followed by anything else tight fitting. who cares if someone notices one of the joys of being pg.

mitf I have two maternity bras on lay by and am not just thinking I need them, but I think cos my bbs are big already they didn't grow that much. I really just want something with no lace and a bit softer.

I think I'm all caught up. I guess it's been a long week and there are loads of posts.

ATM i'm not sleeping. It's been 30C at night and the fan isn't cutting the mustard. I used to love the heat but pg is making me so hot. I could be in a sorong all day I reccon, except that would probably frighten all my staff.

Day off tomorrow and I'm not coming in. You'd all be so proud of me. I've booked 8 spearate days off (my TOIL and RDO's which I haven't taken in ages) so in the next 8 weeks I will be working no more than 4 days each week (i am so proud of myself seriously)

I really needed the hit upside the head too ladies. Thank you, I will go to the info session and then tell the head lecture I need another month, if that doesn't work I'll see what's happening in Term 2. I was starting to panic about how my body would be, the last thing I want is to faint or have an embarassing moment infront of a class, I'd never forget. Thanks Again. :grouphug:

Hi all enjoying my second day off work. Currently marking maths test yeah. Will start writing comments for reports when I am done. Did a little shopping yesterday, went into pumpkin patch, they have the most addorable baby clothes out at the moment. For boys anyway didnt look at girl stuff. I couldnt resist I brought matching jumpers for my 2 boys Campbell wanted to wear his last night and just hold his baby brothers. So Cute. Oh well these maths tests wont mark themselves.

Hi everyone,

Just a very quick update from me.....
Last night i ended up in hosp as i was having lots of back pain and heaps of mild (2/10) braxton hicks contractions, my bp was also elevated. So after monitoring and an internal (cervix soft but only 1cm dilated) i was given some panadeine forte to see if things slowed/stopped..... Things slowed so i went home... conclusion pre/very early labour. So i then had my clinic appt today where it was decided to hold off on induction (which was due to be Friday) and see if i progress further. So plan is ultrasound and monitoring Tuesday and Friday assuming the growth discrepancy isn't worsening i will be left to "see what happens" I also need to keep an eye on my BP as i have confirmed pregnancy induced hypertension.
So i feel good - obviously it's 10 times better to go natural rather than induction and they seem to be keeping a close eye on me so hopefully everything will be ok.
So i am now trying all the natural things - curry, walking (although so much groin pain!), rasberry leaf, and maybe maybe if i can convince DH some SEX!!!!!!

Better go as DH has cooked dinner....Chicken Vindaloo!!!!!

Smith :rofl: you are a clown! I hope DH didn't say "yes" I'd smack him. I must admit my drive is so high atm, poor DF is so tired from working in this heat but I corner him every now and then. I just love your new belly shot, you are so round :D love it.

ATM glad to be home. My class room was so hot and my students were good till 1 so I let them go. I felt awful when I got home, hot, dizzy and swolen, I think I need to take it alot easier in the heat, I had to park ages away due to xmas pagent and it was a bit far in 39C. Also cost me $17 for 5 hours, they really do rip people off dont they, it's a parking space! not a car wash!

Glad to be home, slowly doing some washing as all pg cloths that are cool are dirty. Hanging out in a sarong but not for public viewing.

Hi Girls,

I am SO SORRY its taken me so long to get online to tell you my news but I have been so tired since I got home from hospital and our bloody internet at home ive hijacked the inlaws internet!!!

Well :itsaboy: Trent Paul was born on 4 November at 2.09pm weighing 8lb 6oz. It was a difficult birth as in the end he was lying tranverse so it took my OB awhile to pull him out. He had some fluid on his lungs too so they had to put him in a humi crib for a few hours but he was able to spend the first night in the room with us which was good. They also had trouble putting the spinal block in, tried 3 times before they ended up putting in an epidural. The whole experience was very overwhelming. I found breastfeeding the hardest especially since he lost over 10% of his body weight so had to feed him every 3 hours and they nearly made us stay in hospital an extra day too because of it.

Since being home, I have had next to NO sleep. Trent damaged one of my nipples within a few days and now Im off the whole thing so I am now madly expressing milk every 2-3 hours and feeding it to him out of a bottle. Also, he isnt the best of feeders anyway so since hospital, have been having to top him up with formula too so he is getting both.

I really want to breastfeed for 6 months but I know if I had to do it from my boob, Id give up sooner rather than later. Doing it this way, hopefully he will get breast milk for longer. I have such large breasts too that its hard to position him and with the heat we've had of late, its even harder.

I will be keeping an eye out on everyones progress when I get the chance.

Miss M : Congrats on the arrival of Trent :dance::dance:, I've been hovering waiting to hear your news. Such a big boy as well... I can sympathise re the b/fing and know how tiring it is with a lazy eater and having to express as well. Hopefully after a couple of weeks he will pick up on the feedings for you.

Tara started out with her feeds taking 1 1/2 hours and on 3 hourly feeds, she now only takes between 30-45 minutes (including nappy change) to get through her feeds. I hope to see you in the parenting thread when you get some free time :lol:. I have found the girls there to be a huge help with all the changes that happen in the first weeks. Once again huge congrats to you and DP.

i hope all settles with the b/f hun it is hard sometimes, but good on you for trying it will either work or it wont hun never works out for me :redface: but thats ok ,take care sweety and i also hope you get a good sleep soon.

Oh Miss M congrats. I can tell you boys are very special. but then I am bias. My advise re the breast feeding try a nipple sheild for a few weeks. And if it doesnt work dont beat yourself up about it nobody tells you how friggin hard it all is.

Smithy I had to have a chuckle over DtD with DH. As a random act of kindness my DH got a bit last night and we had the same conversation. Bit uncomforatable with a lump in the way.

AFM after my good effort of taking a day off or two I have undone all the good today. Finally couldnt deal with the mess around the house anymore so whirl wind cleaning, I even vaccumed the blinds and the walls. Now I am very sore and tired. Oh and to add just another amount of pressure to the situation we are toilet training DS before the new baby gets here. LOL

I remember hearing other women talking about great sex and wondering what the fuss was...just seems we had forgotten!! I remember when it got really bad in those 7 years when DH and I had an argument mid-DTD over who's turn it was to be on top!!!!!:redface:;):) Although I must admit now that the bump is starting to get in the way!!! Maybe we should start a thread on Bump Avoidance Positions!! LOL!!!:o;)

Saph - enjoy your time off. The good thing about marking maths tests is there is either a right or wrong answer. I hated marking essays or reading tests...so much fudge room to deliberate over!!
