i've still been eating (thankfully) - just not loving the nausea side of things - i know if i could just throw up, i'd prolly feel better, but i can't seem to! i figure i'm almost 7 weeks now, so i have to expect to feel a bit crap - just wasn't expecting it to hit so hard so suddenly - a slight increase with some warning would have been nice! came home and slept a while this morning, have had some steamed rice, and about to go and find myself some toast for lunch. think i was asking for trouble when i agreed to have dinner with bro and his family last night - we normally have meat and three veg - but he decided to have pizza! uh oh!! pizza is definitely a no go for a while!
poor DH is at work, and worrying about me - i can't help but get upset when i feel sick - i hate throwing up! so i was talking to him and he could hear how distressed i was, and kept saying he felt so bad being so far away. he's called me twice just to check on me since i've been home...
can anyone suggest any other ways to keep ms at a minimum - at the moment, i have sea bands, blackmores ms tabs, and maxalon (this is the first time i've needed it in a fortnight). have ginger bikkies at work, wholemeal crackers, fruit tingles...
ETA - nicole - i called in at mum's for comfort on the way home! don't get along that well with her, but i needed SOMEONE - but she was getting ready to leave, so i stole a bucket for the car and had to drive the rest of the way home feeling all teary! d'oh!

I'm with Janie on the icy poles for m/s. Although not that appealing at the moment with the Melbourne weather! I had a bit of a Callippo addiction for a couple of weeks because it always helped settle my stomach after dinner when I have been feeling the worst. I have also heard lemon juice in water first thing helps the m/s. I have been having that for months before being pg though, so can't say if it's helped really...but I am rarely sick until the afternoon.
-
BG - other foods that helped my nausea were fries (potato), potato crisps - basically anything with potato in it - there were times when the only thing that got me through was potato... must be something to do with the carbs. The other was green apples - I have never eaten so many of them in my life!
Nicole - I know I can hardly believe it myself when I look at my ticker... I'm only 5 weeks off half way! My work trousers officially no longer do up over my belly as of yesterday! In some ways it seems to have taken forever, and in other ways it is just flying by. Don't worry about the no MS thing at this stage... mine hit me on the day of my first scan which was 6weeks 3 days (same as you!)... but hopefully you will be one of the lucky one's who doesn't feel sick at all. I agree with you about that first scan... I felt exactly the same way. Once you see that HB then it all sets home that it is actually real... It truely is one of the most amazing moments of my life seeing that HB for the first time.
Lots of :bellyrubs: to you all.
P.S. Loving how busy this thread has got... Come on all the girls in the LTTTC thread, lets keep up the recent trend of BFP's... we are dying to see you all over here... lots of :bluedust::stickyvibesgirl: to you all.

Thanks for the nice words everyone...
BG- sorry you are feeling so sick, but at least it's a good sign that things are happening in there.
Janie- i too can't believe how far along you are...it seems like yday we were in the TWW together
and yes, come on LTTC ladies...get those BFPs happening and get over here :D
nicole-- not long now until your scan which is exciting and a bit nervewracking...
afm- just working and trying to get organised at work before i head out for my OB appt.
Also worrying because I don't have MS! lol I also find my BBs are more tender some does than others...do others find that?
-
funny you mentioned spud Janie - one of my friends had twins a few years ago, and she said that she only survived with thanks to potato! hadn't remembered that until you mentioned it... i've always been a bit of a potato girl, but had to back off with the low gi stuff - i figure i might see how i go with them again now - if it's something i can eat, i'll be happy!
-
Possums - with the boobs thing - some days (like today) mine hurt like hell - other days, i barely notice them! i seem to find they hurt worse on the days when the MS is worse - but i think that's just cos i'm feeling more sensitive on those days... i have had to go up a size in bra already, and yesterday i grabbed a couple more crop tops just so i'm not in underwires that don't fit properly!
-
BG- ...yes I bet everything hurts more when you feel so sick. Sweet that your DH is so worried about you. I hope your MS doesn't last for too many weeks.

Hi girls,
I hope you all had a great long weekend...mine wasn't so good.
My granny was diagnosed with bowel cancer a few months ago. She was operated on, recovered quite well, went home, backto hospital, started chemo (spelling?), cancer came back, ended up in a hospice.
I spent Friday and Saturday with her. Watching her unable to move on her own, barely able to speak, in pain, and still trying to crack jokes.
She died on Sunday morning.
I'm feeling sick and sad and i don't know how to make it better for the baby. I don't feel like eating and I'm worried that I'm hurting the little one.
Sorry to be a downer, but I'm just so sad at the moment. DH knows and has been great, but he's so busy at work and I don't want him to worry about me more than he already does.

Possum, on the BB thing. Mine are really only hurting when gravity hits them.
Mostly when I take my bra off and get in and out of bed.
As for the no MS i'm in the same boat as you maybe as Janie said we could be one of the lucky ones.
-
Nixon- sorry to hear that sad news...it can be so hard to see somoeone we love suffer, and still try and be strong and joke etc. It's really upsetting. Hope you are OK.
Nicole- yes, maybe we are the lucky ones re the MS...I guess we will all experience our pregnancies differently...will see what happens in the coming weeks. I suppose we are just always looking for signs that things are happening and OK.
-
Nixon, I'm so sorry for your tough weekend and the loss of your beloved granny.
BG, when it comes to pizza, I think it's pretty much off the menu while pregnant. Bad morning sickness in the early stages, bad heartburn/reflux in the later stages. I had a night of pizza hell while we were away - ugh!
One thing I forgot to mention earlier (but meant to!) was that with scans they are happy as long as you measure a week either side of your actual dates. Different babies tend to grow at different rates - we were spot on at 6 weeks, 4 days behing at 10 and 12 weeks, and are back to being spot on for size at 24 weeks. I've got a feeling that we'll start measuring ahead fairly soon judging by the way the bump seems to increase in size every day!

BW- i figured as long as we were within a week - and had a HB, it's a good sign! the guy doing the scan really wasn't interested - he was p!ssed that he had to do an internal i think, cos i was watching him measure things (like the size of cyst on ovary) and he wasn't real accurate marking the borders... so given i noticed that, i don't really trust his Gremlin measurements
Nixon - i'm really sorry to hear about your Gran - remember you don't have a choice but to take care of yourself - even if you're just chowing down a piece of toast every few hours. it's emotionally draining (i lost my last grandfather at 99.5 a couple of months ago) - but i can guarantee your Gran wouldn't want you to neglect yourself in your grief.
Nicole and Possums - DON'T wish ms on to yourselves!! one of the girls on another IVF forum is due same day as me - she wished for mild nausea and ended up really sick yesterday - i then thought "ooh, why is she sick and i'm not" - hmmmm bad idea!
-
Nixon, I also meant to say our little babies are strong in there and in the first trimester especially they do OK even if we don't eat much (ie lots of people have severe MS but their little ones are fine, and I read that it's OK in the first trimester)...so if you feel too sad to eat too much, don't let that add to your worries right now. At least your gran is in a happy place now. Sorry again for your loss.
BW- interesting info re the scans thanks for sharing that...

Ladies- I am pretty shattered right now. My nurse just rang to say my HCG levels have not risen much this past week. She said she is very worried about me and the chance my baby will survive...a miscarriage is likely at this point, although she said sometimes hiccups can happen and things turn out OK...but she is still very concerned...she has already rung my OB with the results and he was also concerned. I'll probably have another scan again.
I can't bear the thought of losing this little one. I am at work and a mess. :crying:
-
Possums - GO HOME!! there is no point sitting at work fretting - if you go home, you can do your own thing, and not worry about how everyone else perceives you. contact the nurse again - find out what happens next. living in limbo of "we might need another scan" is a PITA - you need answers as to the next step, not maybes!
thinking of you hun

Am going to OB at 4.15 pm today...he will tell me what next.
I just can't bear the thought of losing our baby
-
Possums - if you accepted that you have to let go, i'd be worried about your state of mind!!
take it easy, ask your OB as many questions as you can - hoping it's not all doom and gloom for you - come backc and let us know hun - i'll not be going too far from the computer if you need someone to talk to (my msn is in my profile!)
-
thanks BG...I'll come back and let you know after the appt
