Yay, congrats on your scan today londonmiss!! We must be starting a pink trend after the run of blue :) Are you telling everyone? DH and I are keeping it to ourselves though it's so hard to talk about 'our daughter' at home and not say anything to anyone else!! And yes, it's so much fun buying girly pink clothes, I've got to stop myself from buying any more!!
Hope everyone is going well, will write more when I'm not on my phone!

Hey. No. we're telling people the gender but not the name.... got to keep them guessing on something!! It's really hard thinking of the baby as a she and not an it... gosh this is the most exhilarating ride...
-
Smithy - Thankyou for your warm welcome.
LondonMiss - Congrats on your baby bundle of Pink !! :stork-girl: Have yoy thought of any names yet?
Lise - You're having a girl too...:stork-girl: ( this bird is pretty busy delivering all these little pink beanies....) It does get pretty exciting to be able to go shopping isn't it?

Oh ladies hello and thank you for thinking of me! Just a quick post, won't do persies this time, too much to catch up on but I will say a big :welcome: to Emerald!
No I haven't fallen off the face of the planet. I was very touched to read your posts. Still without a computer and I find it hard to post on my phone but never mind. Sunday was also our first wedding anniversary and we decided to getaway for a few days, which was lovely.
On the belly front, just got back from the Ob. I'm really swollen, my BP is up and slight protein in my urine so on rest orders now have to have some BTs tomorrow & get my BP checked every few days & on weekly Ob appts from here on in. PrYing it doesn't get too bad as I really don't want to end up in hospy.
Anyway enough whining, hope you're having a good week and look forward to reading your posts again!

BOC - you must follow orders and rest. This happened to me and three days later I was induced because even though I was in hospital and resting as soon as I did anything my blood pressure went back up. Although I was 36 weeks so a bit further along than you are now. I have my fingers crossed for you.
I cant remember who was talking about it but the elivit, I am still taking it as I am breast feeding and took it the whole way through. Have been taking it for years now as have taken it whilst TTC. It also has a little bit of iron in it and I have needed extra iron for the last 15weeks and after the blood transfussion I still need more. Would hate to think how I would eel if I didnt take it. Really it is just a multi vitamin for women.
-
Sorry ment to say before I dont know how to put the facebook link in but if you add me as a friend you can see some photos of baby Xavier and a few of Campbell.

On a random but tangential subject to the elevit... I once saw a very convincing presentation on the rise of asthma, but this is a UK thing. You can track new homes and asthma increases really well. What basically happened is that we used to have cold, dry, draughty homes with rubbish windows. Now we have proper windows and blocked up chimneys and better heating and had warm damp houses as they aren't circulating air anymore, and this causes the massive rise in childhood asthma apparently. Not sure how that applies to Australia, but I suspect re-circulating air con is a culprit too.
I too am still taking elevit, but more for the vitamins than the folic acid. Being veg, thought I'd better cover my bases!
-
just had an email from my hospital dietician spookily who has told me to take the elevit all the way through to breast feeding, so I think we're all ok!

LM CONGRATS ON YOUR LITTLE GIRL :cheer::cheer:
BOC SO GLAD YOUR BACK:dance:
-
Thanks for the tip about Elevit from your dietician londonmiss, what good timing!
Glad to see you're okay boc though still without a computer - I share your pain. As much as I love my iPhone it's just not the same. And I hope you're resting up well and following doctors orders.
For those with scans soon, I discovered if I held the ultrasound films up to my white computer screen the light and brightness made it very easy to see the images!! DH thought I was a little nuts but it did the trick :)
AFM - home today with a headache. Think really I just needed a lazy day as I've slept most of the day. Am now lying on the couch reading my "Shopping for Baby" magazine for the zillionth time, I love it!
Hope you're all having a great day!

For anyone who wants to up their Iron intake my midwife has just started me on a liquid Iron supplement as I was borderline anaemic.. She recommended Floradix or Spatone.. I went for the Spatone and it's just a clear liquid in a sachet (middie told me to take 2 sachets) and you add it to a glass of juice containing Vit c as that helps it absorb the best.. I just get mine from the health food store... The reason the liquid form was recommended was because it doesn't cause the constipation that iron tablets can... HTH someone...:D
-
Hey - yes I took Floradix for a while given to me by a well meaning naturopath on the basis that all vegetarians need iron. Turns out I'm a carrier for haemochromotosis and that my iron levels were fine and the last thing I needed was a supplement. So I'll I'm saying is check you need it before you take it, if I'd actually had haemochomotosis, and took Floradix (which is nice btw) I'd have been in a pickle.
Friday. Hurrah. Dog is back from vets. Happy happy me. And I'm nineteen weeks tomorrow and all is well. Although the dog has just wee'd on the floor. Clouds/ silver lining.....

Hi girls!
Just checking in. My BP went up again this time to 142/105 (normally 100/60) and I'm in hospy now, hopefully going home Sun. Man it's boring, nothing on TV but reading Pauline Hanson's autobiography which is very interesting!
LM glad furbaby is back. I'm missing mine terribly. She's been at my parents for a week while we went away and I was supposed to pick her up yesty but was banned from driving to Syd so now I have to wait til I get out of here! I so badly want furby snuggles!
Anyway hope you're all good, please keep the posts coming to keep me entertained

Hi Ladies...sorry about the No Perssies but i have a problem and don't know what to think of it......
Well, went for BT #2 today....while waiting for the nurses to call..i had a big scare...BROWN SPOTTING....bawled my eyes out....convinced that this was a short lived pregnancy...called a friend, who talked it all through with me and calmed me down...finally nurses called with BT results...results are as listed below:
16/2 Beta 184 P4 488
19/2 Beta 729 P4 504
Due to the spotting i have to go and see FS on Monday...Hoping nothing starts going south between now and then.
Have any of you heard of any similar situations with a happy outcome??

Sorry I havnt really said hey yet.. But welcome and BIG congrats.. and I have good news for you hun
Ive had 2 mc's and both times it was pretty heavy red red blood and didnt stop for at least a day.. plus there was massive cramping and well.. it was pretty damn convincing both times what was happening.. At the beggining of jelly beans first weeks I had the same sort of spotting your talking about, along with some period like cramping and I immediatly thought it was all over as well.. I think when we have ttc so long and had so many lost angels, we sort of prepare ourselves for the worst and believe it at the first sign of trouble..
Anyway jelly bean is very much alive and getting very big (as you can see from my ticker :p) Between 4 and 6 weeks i was explained is when the fertilised egg attaches and "burrows" itself into the lining of the uterus.. And extremely often this scrapes off a fair amount of the lining where its stuck itself in there which is what leaves your body in the following few days and is most likely what your seeing.. So if anything this could be the sign of the best news yet for you.. Bub is secureing itself for a long stay :) The OB that calmed me explained to me that it was soo common that women would show up in despair between 4-6 weeks for exactly this reason.. at times they were getting through 3-5 women a day scared of the same thing :) But it is all very normal and part of a healthy pregnancy.. sometimes the body reabsorbs the shedding so thats why it doesnt always happen in every pregnancy. but its definately not a bad thing.
They called me back in a few weeks in a row after that to be sure as well seeing as Id had such bad luck with my bubs.. so try not to let there concernt to see you again scare you too badly.. its probably because they know its been a rough time for you getting here too and they want to be sure.. But I hope this can help you to relax and not think the worst straight away
I feel for you hun.. Its such a wrying time at the beggining our our darling little ones lives.. But Im confident you'll be where I am in just a few short months :)

Oh hehe just wanted to add.. I think My son is starting to see his abnormal size as quite a fun hat trick! Most women I suppose guess hes not a day over 1.. and one of them yesterday was serving us at woolies, and she looked down at him standing there and said to him "my your standing well! And being such a good boy for your mumma!"
He looked up at her, smiled sweetly and said "yes, shes going to give me a lollipop, ive been good." she looked up at me like :o so i just said to her "he's 3"
hes so tiny lol.. love my little baby boy ;)
