hi ladies - quick question for you:
i've noticed in the last week my nipples have been quite dry and flaky, and look like they're starting to crack! I use plain sorbolene cream all over my body so have just been using that on my boobs too - but just wanted to know if there are particular creams/lotions I should/shouldn't be using in your experience? I don't want to aggravate the problem!
Hope you're having a great day,
thanks!
lise

Lise use a lanoline nipple cream. I cant remember the name of the one I used b ut it was in a purple tube. Great for cracked heals as well.
Smithy havent heard from green for two days so hopefully thing have moved. The eviction notices I have been sending have been well and truely ignored.
-
Lise: also been told Lucas' pawpaw ointment too. You can get it in supermarkets in a red tube
Ooooh hoping there's movement at Green's station! Maybe her DH got The Wed right, just the week wrong LOL
-
Londonmiss - Just wanted say that I know what you mean about not feeling PG anymore... I felt the same at roughly the same time in my pregnancy... I had no symptoms and no movement and I was really worried that my scan at 19 weeks would reveal something terrible so uch so that I wouldn't put the MCN's on layby that I wanted until I had seen that everything was ok... Which of course it was.. As for feeling movement... I didn't feel any until 21 weeks because my placent alies straight acroos the from=nt of my belly which cushions it all for a bit longer... Loving feeling all the movement now though.. And what a lovely thing to do for your Mum.. A couple of hours by Darling harbour doesn't sound too bad either...
Lise- Lansinoh is the lanolin cream I think Saph204 is referring to.. It comes in a purple and mauve tube...
Smithy - Your video is super gorgeous.. You can hear the wonder and love in your voice.. Thanks for sharing that and Miss Charlie is gorgeous just like her Mum...
Murph01 - Don't you hate flippant comments like that.. I hope that if you do look into it more that there are some answers to be had... I think you need another Bub in time.. You have too much to offer to just bring one little Murph into this world...
Miss Magpie - I hope that motherhood is still bringing you mountains of joy...
BDT - How are you going sweetie.. I am thinking of you constantly and the girls and I hope that you are not too uncomfortble.. How did you find the heat today on the coast.. It certainly knocked me for a very Aussie six...
BOC - How are you doing Hun... I love reading what you are up to cause I am so close in dates to you...
Greeslw - Hmm... Missing Huh? Sending happy vibes for whatever you are doing... I hope that there is some movement in the Green station...
AFM - Does anyone else get or have gotten bad rib discomfort.. I feel like the ribs straight under my BB's are being crushed.. It usually starts about 3.00pm in the arve and doesn't go away until I go to bed.. I also get the skin in the same place feel like it's raw and have a burning feeling... I bought 2 new maternity bras cause I went up a size but can't wear them.. Even the lycra singlets with the light elastic lining hurt.. so I'm running free in an unsupported lycra singlet at work now.. Oops.. poor work mates... Best news ever though is that I am cutting down my work hours from eight hours a day to six as of tomorrow... Woohoo... It has been starting to take it's toll and I want to look after lil Kracker and myself as much as I can...
Hi to everyone I have missed and Happy Australia day.. Aussie Aussie Aussie...
Oi Oi Oi..
-
lise...the cream you want is lansinoh.......it is pure lanolin and the only one you can use on your breasts and not have to wash off to breastfeed....I have been using it for a few weeks now and it is truly awesome...you use such a small amount one tube should do your whole breastfeeding journey......
-
:D thinking of you today green and wondering .......have you had your bubba.....gee i hope so lol.....
melbel...wow just look at you sweety 36 weeks
a big hello to you all today and thanks dee for the nice words hunny your going great there to huny:D
-
further thing re lanisoh cream - is you can use it to protect your wool nappy covers if you go clothe.
i just used homebrand vitamin e cream all over my body to help with dryness and itchiness.
oh and LM - that time after the 12 weeks scan and before movements are felt is torture! i felt movement about 17 weeks as well. And you are not crazy. even at my 32 week growth scan i was worrying they'd not find a heartbeat or such. After years of everything going wrong all the time, I think we just come to expect it and have real trouble accepting this wonderful thing is actually happening to US! Isn't having babies what everyone else does??? iykwim.
ooh, hope you are all correct about green!!! go lady fingers crossed for safe and sound delivery.
i'm still lurking by the by oxox

Hello all. Excuse the possibly exceptionally stupid question, but is pawpaw cream actually made of pawpaws? And what else? I think I like the sound of that better than boiled wool oil!! I've got my first hospital appt this afternoon and [this is soooo 'pregnant'] I've got new shoes, best undies on, shaved bits that haven't been attended to for weeks and weeks and weeks. And I've got make up on and blow dried my hair, neither of which has happened for about, oh say 15 weeks and 5 days.....Ha ha. I'm turning into my mother, I'll be wearing good undies in case I get run over next.
I bet Green is pushing now as we speak.... te he he  how exciting
-
Hahahaha Lm that's classic! I did the same before my first Ob appoitnment, but in the end it was a waste of time LOL. Oh and as for the shaved bits, unless there is a problem i.e. you're bleeding or something, they generally don't go down there. Mind you enjoy being able to do it while you can, I can't even see my bits anymore (nor my feet :(), and with really bad eyesight and a big belly that can't get close enough to the vanity mirror I can't even use the reflection to shave anymore. I tried to con DH into being my official "deforestation expert" but he told me just to go to a salon & get a wax :shakehead: same goes for painting my toenails.
Not sure what the pawpaw ointment is made of but I would say there are some pawpaw in there  some people also recommend Cocoa Butter too. I use these as I have an allergy to Lanolin oil (which apparently is quite common?) and the last thing I want is blistered, rashy nipples.
Enjoy your appointment though! The first one is always the best. I was really glad that my Mum came with me to mine, cause the Ob started asking medical history questions and I had no clue, or no memory and it turns out some were important to note (i.e the family history of breech births and my Mum having had pre-eclampsia with both me & my brother)
Thinking of our little Greenie and hoping she's holding her precious bundle right now!

 BOC... happy 30 weeks hunny just had a sneak at your pics and im loving them

I'm jumping in to to make sure I get good news when Green is back on board, plus there are still some more of my girls cooking so I need to keep an eye on you all as well.

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a lovely Australia Day, and maybe long weekend for some... DH and I went down to Melbourne to visit his family and friends. We haven't been down in a while o it was great to catch up with everyone.
Kyra - that's funny we were struggling with the girls names. If you Google hottest 100 names for 2009 you should get a few lists which I found useful. DH and I went through independently crossing and circling the ones we did and didn't like. We then came back to see what we had the same and had the opportunity to veto the different ones we didn't like or add the ones we would consider.
Smithy - Congrats again from me. I am looking forward to hearing your birth story. I haven't had a look at your photo's or video yet but will do so when I get home.
Lise - I hope the new car shopping went well on the weekend and you and DH have been able to agree on something.
Poppy - I would love you to come to Japan and be my tour guide! How fantastic that you can speak Japanese. Being an exchange student must have been an amazing experience. After speaking to a few more people we are felling more comfortable about the whole thing and have decided to head over in mid March. I submitted my passport application today and we should book our flights over the next few days or on the weekend.
Green - hoping to hear some fabulous news soon....
LondonMiss - hope your appointment went well this afternoon. If your appointment is anything like mine was the most the midwife saw of me was my belly when she used the doppler..... I am sure you would have felt lovely and all dolled up anyway. I am not sure what is in pawpaw ointment either but dare say it does include pawpaw. I have some at home and it's fantastic. It is great to use on cuts or scabs and helps them heal quicker, it is even a great lip balm!
BOC - I will be having 2 baby showers as well. One here with about 20 friends and family, plus 1 in Melbourne with another 10 or so friends. DH's best friends wife asked if she could throw me one in Melbourne. I was a little surprised at first but though it would be a nice way to include the MIL & SILs etc. I won' be having a no presents policy though, I think people like to buy the baby presents. I find that most people stick to there own budget and if they don' turn up with a gift I won' be bothered.
Ok that's a long enough catch up post. A big hello to everyone I have missed and special good luck to those ladies patiently waiting through these last few days or weeks.
-
hello all. Had my appt and the doc did a doppler thing - heard a good strong heart beat and I feel sooooo relieved. Thanks for all the reassurance though, it was really comforting to hear it's not just me. The waiting room was a bit of an eye opener - what a mix of people. Someone was having contractions, but I saw her getting on the tram as I left so I'm thinking that was a false alarm.... Didn't get my goody bag though! dammit!
Kyra - I'm really old fashioned about names. My starting point is it has to be the sort of name that if my child was applying to graduate programme or a job, the name would suit them, not just a name that suits when you are 3 and cute. I bought a really good book called Cool Names for Babies. It's a little book, by Satran and Rosenkrantz, and by far the most useful one I've found rather than the dictionaries with 5 million names.
-
Baby Dreamtime Congrats on reaching 36 weeks. You made it to your goal! Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.
Smithy your photos and video are beautiful. Congrats again on your precious little bundle of joy aka Charlie! Oh and arent you lucky that she is sleeping 6 hours. Well done baby Charlie.
Saph hang in there, two weeks will fly past. You will be holding your bub in no time :D
London Miss great choice in coming to Sydney. My hometown is stunning!! :D
AFM only five more sleeps till i get to see my little ones again. Cant wait to be reassured that all is going well. Have been feeling really well so am counting my blessings.
-
Hi lovely mummies to be,
Paula, yay for only 5 more sleeps, so excited for you, scans are always great to set your mind at ease that all is going well. Looking forward to hearing your news.
LM, so glad you feel better, the sound of their heartbeat is magic I think.
Mitf, 2 baby showers sounds divine, and all those lovely gifts, have fun. And glad you had a great time in Melbourne.
Hi KellyD, Hi Janie, Hi Grub, thanks for stopping by!
Kyra, glad all is well with you, I found picking girls names easier, and if we were to have a boy, with my husband begin Greek, I have always known first born son would be named after DH's father, so easy. Good luck and have fun deciding.
BOC, I have given up trying to keep down there neat and tidy, and now with it being likely I will have a Csection, it doesn't matter so much. Though I did book in for a pedicure as I too can't really reach my toes. The joys. Will you be updating the EDD list for this new thread? I can't wait to see where I fall!
Lovely Smithy, hope you and Charlie are doing well, your pics and video are beautiful!
Melbel and Saph, I am counting down the days with you both, at least the end is in sight. Hope you both are travelling well.
Lilmiss, still hanging in there. Could your sore spot be from your little mans head? I have really sensitive sore pressure points where my girls' heads always pop up, it feels really stingy too? And yes, the heat is bad, but have been in the pool and am now in aircon watching the tennis  Looks like I will see you Sat for coffee.
Lise, I can't help re the nipple question, but the girls have some good advice. Good on you for baking, I was meaning cooking my girls lol, I should have been clearer, not sure if I could stand in the kitchen for more than 10 minutes at this stage, my feet are like hobbit feet, even my calves are swollen. I am dying to indulge in the nesting need, but just don't have the energy.
AFM, we had our scan today, both girls are fine, still breech, and have put on weight, Aria is still smaller than Sophia, but measuring 2.4kg and 2.8kg respectively, so ok sizes, they both have little heads (better than big heads I guess lol). I am waiting for the blood test results for my itchiness, it is called Cholestasis, something about the liver not processing bile acids properly causing it to enter the blood stream, making the blood sort of toxic, and causing all over 24 hour itching, only happens in about 1% of pregnancies, lucky me! If it is positive I will have a Csection booked next Wed 3 Feb, if it is negative, we are going for 38 weeks, so 10 Feb, yikes, can my belly get any bigger? That is unless I go into labour naturally before then.
So that is the plan so far, can't believe I have made it this far and am sort of dreading the next 2 weeks, but at least it is best for the girls.
Hi to anyone I have missed xx
Special mention to Dusty and Loula, in case you are reading, we are stalking you, hope you both can pop in here and say hi sometime, and so happy for you both x
