spotting

I'd like to say, don't worry about it. If you are, go see your doctor. I started to spot a bit and I was a bit panicked.. but I went to the Dr. and the heartbeat sounded good. I've stopped spotting, he said not to worry about it unless it's really heavy bleeding. I am past the 14 week mark though...

Got my third result today - my series (every 48 hours) is now:
9413 to 14,832 to 23,632
Both increases are 63% which is nice & consistent! Tiny bit more spotting on Friday seems to have settled, and I've been feeling totally (but not actually) sick, so we're feeling very positive.
Also tried some acupuncture (from a lady who specialises in fertility/gyno stuff) for the MS (apparently it's meant to really help) and certainly felt good afterwards - so we'll see how much that helps.

More spotting this afternoon after a very light walk. In retrospect realised that the spotting on Friday was after a light walk too. A lot of sites I have read suggested that resting won't make any difference if you're going to m/c - if it's gonna happen, it'll happen and what you do won't make much difference (within reason obviously). But given I seem to be keeping getting spotting after exercise, I'm assuming taking it easy might be wise idea. I had just really wanted to try and keep healthy (and everything suggests light exercise is very good for you). Should I be resting? Should I be doing as normal? I'm just not sure!

me again - just to say I had a scan today (after the stress got the better of me!)
and it was all good news! my scan dated properly (exactly 6 wks 5 days), heartbeat :heartbeat:123, and little bleed outside the gestational sac that apparently shouldn't impact the embryo at all and has been causing all that pesky spotting! I'll talk to my doc about whether I need to be extra careful so as not to aggravate the bleed, but otherwise all a-ok!! OMG I feel SO relieved!!

What I learnt from today?
1. Don't discount the fact that everything can leave you feeling like a raging teary hormonal stress monster - and sometimes that actually gets good results (the scan!).
2. I don't need to feel guilty for doing whatever I need to do to get me through.
3. My gut instinct is important.

Hi Belfie, that's the best news! I am so happy for you that the scan went well and you get to see the beautiful heartbeat of your bub! That's such a relief!

Thanks for the messages. Seeing my doc today she informed me that my little bleed is a "subchorionic haemorrhage" and to stop/reduce all activity! Just to make sure the bleed reduces as opposed to getting worse. So I'm now working from home for two weeks (she offered me a week off - not quite sure why I turned that down in retrospect!), but at least it means I don't have to do all the public transport traipsing to & fro to work... and hubby can do the vacuuming, shopping, cleaning... hehe. And I'm lucky, with a very supportive understanding workplace & boss.

Honestly I'm not quite sure what i think about this couch potato business. It's funny, I was so determined to keep active through this pregnancy... but fate seems determined to make me stop & veg! So I guess the best thing I can do is go with it. I've got another scan at 8 weeks (20th Feb) so that'll be nice confirmation if resting is doing the right thing.

oh dear. I'm stressed out of my noggin again. I've coped with the spotting, I've coped with the subchorionic hematoma (SCH), I've coped with cutting out all activity and working from home for a few weeks. What "coped" is I'm still not sure, but i've done my best. And luckily i've had 2 good scans, and the second one didn't show the SCH. So I'm still on reduced activity just to be careful until I see my obs on the 3rd March.

But then late last night I bled :crying:. Not just spotted. Bled bright red blood that went straight through my clothes. It's stopped over night & today (just a bit brown wipe sorry if TMI). I'm so sick of stressing about this. I'm so sick of trying to pick myself up after every thing that happens.

I've been to the doc, and he said yep, another scan.. but it's Sat and I can't get in anywhere unless I go wait for ages at E&R... which seems overkill now that that the bleeding has stopped. So I'll wait till monday for another scan & try not to stress (HA!).

I'd stomp around the house swearing my head off but that would probably be too much activity! I just... I just wish it would all be ok. :cry: And nothing says it's not, but i'm just so very very scared it won't be ok... and the waiting is just foul. And the wondering. And it just seems like every week throws something new at us. I'd learnt to deal with the spotting, I'd stopped stressing (too much) about the SCH. I really didn't need bleeding as well. All my friends seem to cruise through their pregnancies... one moment I'm still so happy I'm PG, and the next I feel like i'll feel silly if it's all ok, to have got this stressed... oh dear just too many thoughts really

Oh Belfie!! Huge hugs for you :hug: :hug: :hug: I'm sorry you've had such scares with this pregnancy. I hope that everything settles down for you and that Monday's scan will show everything's fine. I was reading what you wrote in an earlier post:

Belfie - it is only natural to feel all over the place emotionally, at present. I would be really surprised if you did NOT feel this way.

I am wondering how you are - and if the bleeding has continued to stay away, etc.

Thanks so much for the encouragement and the hugs. It helps. The bleeding has continued to stay away thank goodness, just a bit of brown spotting still.

Kerry I had to laugh when you quoted me to myself. I thought darn it why'd I go and say that lol. It's funny I guess how different you feel on different days. Sometimes I'm so positive... and other times... hmm less so.

Today I decided I was sick of talking about it and thinking about it, and just set out to have a really nice relaxing day. Most of the time it worked, and to be honest my frame of mind now is just... confused. I couldn't say that i feel positive or negative anymore. I'll just have the scan tomorrow and see how we go.

I think I had been so determined to try to not stress with this PG and to enjoy it, but with all the challenges we've been facing, I need to just allow myself to stress & get upset. Because if it was a friend of mine in this situation, I'd think it was perfectly understandable. Plus with the "no activity" bit, my normal coping mechanism would be to go for a walk, or storm around the house doing stuff... burn off that tension. So it's a challenge to find different ways of doing that which don't involve exertion!

Im so sorry for what your going through, and i understand totally, as i too had a subchorionic heamorage. Please try to rest and take it easy, i know its hard but you really need to try and keep calm.

There is a thread somewhere on this in the medical conditions, it might be worth a read. Keep up the positive thoughts, and i will say a little pray for you.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that with my first daughter I spotted the whole pregnancy. I had 8 threatened misscarraiges where I was hospitalised overnight and they monitored me, the whole time my levels kept going up. With my son I spotted until 23 weeks on and off same senario. After 23 weeks returned to a normal pregnancy. Last june I miscarried at 8weeks baby was 6.5 weeks it wasn't spotting so much as a regular discharge and sharp cramping a scan showed baby wasn't in the right place and no heart beat yet, within a week I miscarried. I just wanted to let you know, that your not alone, some of us spot regularly and it's completely normal. Always get it checked as other complications can arise.
Scans are great they can put your mind at rest and also confirm that it's not eptopic and best of all you get to see your baby!
It's great to hear your feeling better, hope all goes well.

okies finally I'm seeing the funny side in all this.

The good news is baby is fine - growth is on track & nice little heartbeat of 170. There's still no sign of the SCH (yay), no idea why I was bleeding (just one of those things I guess), but they did pick up on a cyst on the cord. It's not causing any issue at present but we just need to keep an eye on it, and re-check at ~12 wks (which I woulda done anyway).

So clearly it's a girl... cos it's a drama queen! I've passed through the stress barrier into the funny-land. Clearly my PG ain't progressing unless i've got spotting/SCH/bleeding/cysts etc... so now I know that, I can relax!

Hi Belfie, good news on the scan!!!!

You could be describing me, everything you have written is the same emotions I have been going through. I also have a sub H, origanially it was 2 small ones, which joined together to form one large one, in my last scan the first one had healed completely but another one had formed although small, still a worry. I have found it to be extremely depressing not be be able to do anything, but they say after the first trimester they usually settle down. From past experience it has taken slightly longer for that to happen for me, but........ I am hoping I will have the all clear around about half way through. I still don't think I will be able to allow myself to go out and start walking or anything but I do hope that I will at least be able to get out of the house instead of being subjected to bed rest. At the end of the day I just want to hold this baby in my arms so if I have to take it easy for the whole pregnancy I guess I will.

When do you think you will feel safe? And best of luck for another good scan at the 12 week mark. Cheers Pam.
