LOl I was going to post and ask how you went but you've already told them :rofl: I WAS also going to suggest rather than seeing it as a negative thing to look at it with a pos spin and see that you get to see your bub every 4 weeks and see the changes in development.
But you've sorted it.
So yay for the 1 extra scan at 36 weeks and yay for sticking to your guns

I'm glad you did. Seems a tad OTT to me. My OB hasn't even weighed me or commented once on my weight or telling me how much I'm allowed to gain etc. Seems strange they would do that many scans without a reason. To me a bit of extra belly fat isn't really a good enough reason if your otherwise healthy.
I'm going in for tons of ultrasounds for high risk stuff..but if it was a normal kinda pregnancy and being overweight is the only issue..probably wouldn't be able to make some of those ultrasounds ;)
Good on ya! I was offered a heap of scans with my twins but only agreed to one (after my first at 21 weeks when the twins were discovered). They were pretty happy once they knew I had made an informed decision, more surprised that I didn't want to see the babies at every opportunity :lol: Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy :)
I am obese too and have never heard of that. If ur uncomfortable I would be getting another opinion.
I had lots of scans with DS cos I had a condition during pregnancy that ment I had HUGE amounts of amniotic fluid so my DS needed monitoring.
I'm glad you stuck to your guns - it's hard to do that sometimes! I'm overweight, and bigger than when I had DS. My Ob has never weighed me, never asked me my weight, never commented on size (most of my fat is on my hips and thighs, but I was close to 90kg when I got pg), never said anything about birthing choices (even though DS was an emergency c/s) and never suggested extra scans. He only ever occasionally uses the doppler (usually just listens with a stethoscope), and can easily feel fundal height. As someone else suggested - it's about doctor/midwife skills rather than anything else if you ask me! Also, do they see birth as something to be "managed" or a natural process that they're assisting with? Thankfully my Ob is the latter.
Well the saga is ongoing. I happen to have the most fat-o-phobic ob in the hospital...just perfect :cry:
I am embarrassed to even take hubby along to the appointments with me because the ob weighs me at each visit and isnt exactly discreet about it. I know my hubby loves me...thats not really the point- its just a dignity thing I spose...what woman wants to have their husband know how much they weigh IYGWIM? The obs disapproval in my weight is obvious and I am just soo embarrassed by it...sigh....
I don't really have a choice in OB being a public patient, and making a report or anything isn't really an option I want to take as I work at the hospital and no- there is no other hospital to go to :(
I am just soo mad and upset that they have completely spoilt this pregnancy for me...I didn't got through this with DD1 (Only one year ago- they didnt even weigh me then!) I was was obese then too.
This all just totally sucks (sorry...having an emotional day I s'pose).
Just tell him to stop weighing you unless there is a medical reason. Your right to choose in my opinion.

He is an arrogant a$$hole...no doubt he would make a snide remark if I refused...arrgg
:hug: Are there other obs or do you always see the same one? I had one ob when I was pg with JJ who I refused to see again because she was a noob. Just because you are public doesn't mean you don't have choices but if you are working there too I can see that you would have to be a bit careful xoxo
It's a hard thing to do - make a complaint that is. Do you have a good GP you can talk to? Perhaps your GP could give your Ob a call to discuss your emotional health and how the constant weighing and discussing weight is not helping your pregnancy. Alternatively if you felt comfortable, you could talk with your Ob about it. It's not on, and it's not fair. If you get nowhere, it's worth asking for a change in Ob - as someone said, just because it's public, doesn't mean you have no choices!
Oh, and hell no! I know how much I weigh, but I don't want DH knowing that! He's allowed to know I'm overweight (he's not stupid), but the details are mine. Same goes his way (not that he's big or anything), I don't know how much he weighs and I accept that. Oh I hope you get some joy at the hospital. At the very least, you are growing a wonderful, happy, healthy human who has a lovely Mum who is full of love and joy for the baby. You, your DH and your DD are going to welcome Cookie to the family and say "go stick your head up a dead bear's bum" (that one's courtesy of my Dad who had a strange turn of phrase...) to whomever tries to rain on your parade!
I am on the bigger side and have GD to boot. I was weighed by my private midwife at 8 weeks, and nothing since.
My OB measures my fundal heigh every appointment without any hassles. She does do a quick US at every visit, but I know that is standard for all her patients. Every 2nd one she checks head size, leg length etc to estimate weight, and the opposite visit she just checks heartbeat, position and the umbilical cord blood flow.
TBH I love each and every time I get to see my little peanut, but I don't think my OB would be fussed if I'd said no to any of these scans.
I think your doctor is just a jerk. Full stop. I'd be 'forgetting' scan appts if I was you - just keep blaming "baby brain" lol :)
I forgot to mention my ob wanted me to have yet another diabetes test despite me having 2 already and being cleared of GD. He cant accept that I dont have any weight related issues and is desperately trying to find something wrong.
I'm just going to focus on cookie and "up a bears bum" to the ob...LOL (thanks Wannbemum!) xx
gosh I would have lost it and told the OB where to go by now!! I was just wondering if ur OB is the same 1 I have encountered at the hospital I had DS at.
If u dont want to mention the hospital I respect that u work there. I will be having to go back to the same hospital that I had DS at so I am hoping I dont end up with that dr again.
I would not be getting weighed every appt. Your body, your choice, your right. Same with another diabetes test- you've been there, done that.
Can he see the scales? Just knock off kilos if he can't. :D

No i wouldn't be having more GD tests either. This is the OB's issue with weight problems, not yours.:
I would definatley be trying ot get another carer, because that guy sounds like he needs to have his license revoked. Even if its a midwife to look after you to term. Just reading makes me want to smack him one!
