Hello Mums!
My name is Kelly. I am a midwifery student at the University of Queensland. As part of the national requirements to become a registered midwife in Australia, student midwives must follow the pregnancy journeys of at least 20 women.
The aim is for midwifery students to provide emotional support and assistance during your pregnancy, labour and birth, as well as after your baby is born. The University requires a student midwife to attend at least 5 of your antenatal appointments, be present at the birth of your baby and to attend 2 postnatal appointments.
The role of the student is completely up to you, I can be involved as little or as much as you prefer and you can withdraw at any time for any reason.
If you are less than 32 weeks pregnant and planning a birth at Mater Mothers' Hospital (South Brisbane) between July 2016 to July 2017 and if this is something you are interested in please feel free to contact me via email: k.stegmann@uq.net.au. I would love to be involved in this wonderful and exciting time in your life! This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain some extra support during your pregnancy and a wonderful learning opportunity for me.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Kind regards,
Kelly
