I'm totally with you on the milkshake front. I've had more strawberry milkshakes in the past month than I have had over the past 5 years. Yum! And cold glasses of full cream milk.
I've finally moved on from the red powerade fixation, which is good because my mouth has finally returned to its normal colour and isn't constantly stained red anymore.
Savoury foods............
Cheeseburgers with pickles and Salt n Vinegar chips are my vice - Yummy!!
Mmmmmmmm, that makes me want them :)
At the moment i'm suddenly wanting white chocolate.
I'm a dark chocolate girl & hardly ever eat white chocolate. It's tasting sooooo good though.
The only thing i MUST have once a day is Special K advantage cereal. it's so goddamn good. MMMMMM. good for b/fast and at 11pm in bed.
the only other things i've kind of wanted are softserve but i think that's cos i found out i couldn't have it (i used to hate it)... and the usual kabana and camembert. mmmm. not to mention a nice glass of NZ wine.:p
I've been drinking brown vinegar straight from the bottle...funnily enough I told my mum and she did it when pregnant too! Sounds gross I know!! Or anything salty so salty hot chips, salt n vinegar crisps, yum yum!! Usually have a sweet tooth when not pg so very weird! Also totally gone off coffee, used to have one every morning now even the smell makes my stomach churn!
I dont have any cravings for this pregnancy, well not yet anyway.
But my first was bad, when I was in hospital it was bottles of sprite (hate the stuff) and salt & vinegar chips. While I was out of hospital it was milkshakes and chicken kebabs...
Wonder why I am not gettng any now? Is this a normal thing?
Huggabug - I wouldn't worry about the lack of cravings. Not everyone gets them and it could mean that your diet is meeting all your needs.
I had a massive craving this afternoon for vegemite and cheese on fresh bread. It was excellent!
I haven't had a big craving for a couple of weeks. Then it was salty and sour things.
But tonight all I want to eat is KFC.
Not potato and gravy or anything else....just salty chips and friend chicken OMG.
So bad for me :-(
Chocolate yogo and rainbow paddlepops this week. It's been all I've been able to keep down.
Lol friend chicken? I assume u mean fried :) I think I've been keeping the Cheesecake Shop in my area in business for the past few weeks, buying a whole caramel continental cheesecake every weekend...when my boyfriend wants a slice I reluctantly cut him a tiny slither haha what a pig...but im 22 weeks and hardly showing so my excuse is im trying to put on weight :)
Hi all,
A beer, a really strong malty beer like a Killkenny or something. Sadly not one I can indulge in. I loved the smell of bleach with my last PG. I bleached my whole house when cleaning, I just couldnt get enough. My doctor called it Pica, its when you crave really unusual things like eating sand or chalk or the smell of petrol or paints.
Oh, how I miss beer. It's only on really hot days that I seem to crave them, but REALLY strong cravings. I indulged in one for xmas and may have one on my birthday in Feb, but my midwife will hit me so very very hard for it.
Tutmae, go for a light beer...its got less alcohol in it!! thats what I did and boy was it delicious!
All i can think of at the moment is chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate... and unfortunately the fridge is full of it from Xmas stocking and treats!
There is a brand of beer called Stirling made by carlton ,its less than 1 standard drink. Its a little expensive but you would only have one maybe even just a small glass, so splurge
Sweetened condensed milk. Can't get enough.
When I was pg with DD1, I couldn't stomach 'home-cooked' food and ended up eating takeaway far too often. McDonald's, KFC, whatever. It was all I could bear to put in my mouth. That, and cheesecakes from the Cheesecake Shop. It wasn't until after I gave birth that I realised the continental ones I like probably contain raw egg and are therefore a no-no. This time around I'm okay with eating decent food, but I'm *always* craving condensed milk, I'm sticking tins in the fridge and then cracking them open at night to eat in front of the TV!!
I would kill for a cheesecake again, but yeah... being a bit more careful this time. Oh, and I also want to eat tinned smoked oysters on crackers non-stop, but again, for every article telling me they're okay, I find another saying I can't have them, so I'm erring on the side of caution :(
hi everyone
i'm fixated on a cake/ muffin - with creamy type icing on it. i have it in my head what i want .. i just can't find it... and being as cooking challenged as i am .... doubtful i'll make it
kitten76 - I LOVE the smell of is varnish and petrol...mmmmm everytime go to petrol station i stick my head out of window while DP filling up. i feel kinda bad but surely not too bad - only a minute or two of sniffing and not close up or anything LOL.
^ Saaaame with the petrol. Oh god. Such a guilty pleasure, but one I love. DH usually fills the car up on his way home from work but on the very odd occasions I have to put fuel in, I stand there tingling all the way down to my toes with the sheer pleasure of the smell of it :/
I know it's bad, but I can't help it!!
gothmum - thank god i'm not the only one. DP has teased me endlessly bout this one - as we have jokes about me giving birth to a 'feral' cos we live very north of the city (known for ferals) - hence babie's nickname 'bruce diesel' .... that and my birth certificate names a caravan park as place of residence so big family joke is that i'm 'trailer trash'..... the petrol sniffing just sends them all over the edge.... i don't care tho ;0)
Now i'm depressed just reading all the yummy food people have been eating!
I have celiac disease so have to be on a gluten free diet, only found out about it 5 years ago so i know what i'm missing out on. What i would do to eat a chesse and bacon roll from Brumbys or a 4 and 20 pie or KFC or hot chips with chicken salt. Its almost killing me some days but I know if i did eat any of that I would be really sick and my body wouldn't take in nutirants for a few days which would be bad for Peanut.
So i guess i'll stick with my slurpee's and the ocational chocolate frappee from starbucks, with lots and lots of cream!
Chow - Coles have heaps of yummy gluten free stuff in their freezer section. Meat pies, cakes, lamingtons, apple pies plus a whole heap more I can't remember. It's a really big range. Some Patties brand and a few others by memory.
As with all GF food it doesn't taste EXACTLY like the 'original', but it's pretty close!
Angela - Thanks, I am a super big fan of the GF section at Coles, just can't get the idea of really soft white bread or crispy flakey pastery out of my head. Just can't be done GF. At least there are those options now, can't imagin getting through this without patties!
i cant get enough of ice atm. i have very boring cravings
A ice cold chocolate milk at night
Milkshakes/thickshakes, too.
Only problem is, I can't eat soft-serve and the old fart who owns the local Wendy's refuses to make me thickshakes based on 'real' ice-cream. He used to do them for me, but I guess I ordered them too often because the last time I asked for one he told me they 'don't have 'real' ice-cream anymore'... which is total and utter BS because there were two huge tubs of it right there with the mango sorbet and after-dinner mint ice-cream!!!
I even told him he could feel free to charge me extra to make up for the inconvenience/extra cost of using dairy vs soft-serve but he's having none of it.
So, all my friends get their shakes and stuff from Donut King next door now, just to spite him.
Hi
My cravings with this pregs have been loads of grapes, The smell of wet dirt, fabric softener, the smell of V05 shampoo and conditioner, cornflakes with milo and a spoonful of ice cream, mushroom and onion sandwhiches
I am really hearing everyone on the KFC chips with chicken salt, I absolutely love them!! And I loooove milkshakes and hot chocolate!!
I really want a milkshake now
I crave fruit juice.I reckon could drink 2 liters a day. Also fruit ****tails and a tropical beach to go with them!
