Arimehs Eden, i think her fear of birth is a result of the many american birth shows she tourchers herself with on a daily basis!
Americans seem to scream a lot which just is a waste of time and energy, and whats with the counting as they breath, weird!
Like i said hunni, stop watching the birth shows, u have seen enough now, u are a strong woman and i have every faith u can do this!!!!
My ob gave me the spiel, I was having a big baby, measuring big all the way through and I had a small pelvis. I was scared alright. So it was a nice thing to have a 3.5kg baby (7lb 13). Blah to them all, your baby will be a perfect size for you :hug:
Dude, step away from the medical soaps :) Youtube some REAL birthing videos if you're curious, the one thing that grabs my attention with all the homebirth mumma's is there is no fear in the noises they make - it may be painful, but it doesn't have to be scary.
Repeat after me: I made her, I can birth her, I made her, I can birth her :hug:
it's a focus thing. A distraction from the pain etc. It's actually quite helpful. :):
You will be fine Hun. It sounds like mainly it's the fear of birth for you. Do a bit if reading, watch some good birth movies. Good luck.
I have a stack of books that i am reading at the moment, I also have a hypnobirthing book and CD that you could burn that should help you with that fear... Its not the full course, but it helped me first time around knowing that my body really knew what it was doing.
I read in one of them the other day (think it was Ina Mays book) that both a penis and a tampon 'fit' at the time that it is required too, but both can hurt if you are anxious and stressed about it - consider the size difference ... labour is all about your body getting ready to birth your baby and if you do it right, the baby will fit :)

They have no idea. My SIL had the growth scan and was told she was having an enormous 4kg+ kid. Her baby got stuck, forceps, he was 3.5kg.
I had a 34 week scan (not for growth, but they measured anyway) Baby was average size, nobody mentioned anything. My belly was fairly small. I had a 4 and a bit kg baby girl, who took her time coming out, but I think she did that on purpose to save me tearing. She wasn't stuck, just slow. I pushed for 2 hours and loved every minut eof the pushing bit. Later, my antenatal midwife told me she was astounded at the size, and that she'd never have picked it, that I "hid it well"
Tell em all to bugger off.
Although... my theory goes that baby size relates to arm strength. I've got sick-arse strong triceps and had a big baby. I need them to hoof her around town :lol:
My Ob predicted a 'perfectly average sized baby' (his words) of 8lb, yet all the midwives kept feeling the bump and warning me I was going to have a huge baby, bigger than the Ob said. I politely asked them to stop trying to freak me out, that it was the head circumference I was most thinking about (;)) and I knew I was going to feel it no matter the size so please stop freaking me out.
My Ob was spot on. She was exactly 8lb. But smaller or bigger, labour is still labour, and they still have to make an entrance. And you can do it. It's scary, I know, I walked around saying I was so prepared but as birth drew closer I realised how scared I was. Your baby is going to be the perfect size for you, and you can do it :hug:

I had a my final growth scan on the thursday and she was estimated at 2.94kgs, she was born 6:50am monday morning weighing at 2.95kgs!!
First time I have heard of where the scan was actually right!! LOL
But, you WILL be able to birth your baby!!!!!! Labour is very scary but you can totally do it! Just remember your body was actually created and designed to give birth! it is engrained into who you are.. you can do it...
