I weighed 50 kgs before pregnancy and got up to 62kgs about 2 weeks ago. Now at 38 weeks I've literally misplaced some kg's? I'm now 57kg which shocked me a bit this morning! I have digital scales so they are fairly accurate.
I thought I read somewhere that you can lose a bit of weight right before the baby arrives - but I can't find that info now. I am eating what is for me a lot and I've always been eaten healthily and balanced so I'm not really worried. My last antenatal appointment was 2 weeks ago so I can ask my midwife next week, but just wondered if anyone had that as a sign that baby was imminent. ;-)

Noobie, I found with all of my pregnancies the week before bub was born I lost weight. So there you go hun ;)
-
My first pg I started at around 55kg (underweight for my height), then shot up to 97kg - which is a 42kg gain....
This pg I started at around 72kg, and am up to 80kg now at 18w... and with another 22 weeks to go I think I could easily hit the 97kg mark again... hopefully not higher though!!!
-
Hmmmmm I've put on 12 kilos and I am 27 weeks weeks pregnant. Is that normal I wonder??
-
With all 3 pgs I have put on over 25 kg I say over as I just stop weighing myself when I cant see the scale ( about 30 weeks ) lol so I dont know what I was at the end. I am also a smaller lady but have always gotten back to shape before 12mths but for all thoses around me, think I am back at 3mths but I always have the last 7kgs on my butt which always take that extra time.
good luck and dont worrie about the small stuff everyone is different.

Thank you so much for posting this thread its made me feel better I have an BMI of 20 (pre pregnancy weight 53kg and 1.65m or 5"4') and at 23 week I've put on 7kg. the only thing was that I put on 4kg in the last month and started thinking about how big I would get if I keept putting on 4kg everymonth!!!

I'm 157cm and was 45 kg pre-pregnancy (I usually sit around 47-49 but I gave up drinking and that made me lose weight!). Gained 14kg, and lost 12 within 10 days of his birth. I didn't worry at all about my weight gain or loss, just went with the flow. Didn't try to lose weight, but I have a fast metabolism so with the bf and having no time to sleep or eat properly, it fell off. My husband kindly bought me lots of choccy bikkies and made many 3am hot chocolates to keep me sane and maintain a decent weight to ensure bf went ok. I was told I cuold put on up to 25 kg given I was little beforehand.

can I dig this thread up?
I'm a little concerned... I gained almost nothing up to 20 wks... then I gained 6 kgs by the time I reached 25 wks... now I'm at 33wks+3 and have hit 16 kgs of weight gain! I'm 1m77 and weighed 72 kgs pre-pregnancy (BMI 23) Blood sugar and baby size are fine. Is it because I'm already 33 that I'm gaining so much now?

Hi ladies,
I am 178cm tall and my weight before falling pregnant was 68kg and I only gained 6-7kg up to around 28 weeks, but then started to slowly put it on. I am nearly 39 weeks now and I am 83kg so I have gained about 15kg. I have noticed that I am starting to lose a bit now which I have been told is normal as well. My OB said that my weight gain is quite normal for my height etc. so I am happy to go along with what he says. He told me that most of the weight that I gained/gain in the last few weeks are all baby as well, so that is a good thing. I actually think I look a lot better than I did before I fell, which is surprising as I was always so very concious of my weight. Might not worry so much after bub is born.
xxx Nita

anjali - your baby is putting on a lot of weight in the third trimester so this would probably account for your weight gain. With my first two I put on more weight towards the end of my pregancy but that was due to big babies and extra fluid. This time I'm ona trict diet because of diabetes so I've not put on any weight so hopefully after the birth I'll be about 10kgs lighter than when I started!
If the Dr thought you were putting on too much weight they would tell you.

I started at 61kgs. Im short - 5ft1. Have put on 10 kilos at 32 weeks (today). But I think I have lost abit of weight as on low GI diet as have GD.
-
I started at 60kg. I haven't weighed myself in a couple of weeks but last time I did (about 33 weeks) I'd put on approx 7kg. Thats probably gone up to 8kg now (35 weeks). I expected to weigh more by now but I think because its been so cool in Sydney I haven't had as much fluid retantion as I expected. My midwife hasn't weighed me ever so I assume its not an issue and try not to worry about it.

-
I am almost 33 weeks and have put on 10 kilos.
-
With my 1st, I was 58kg's ended up 85kgs at the end.
This one I started 60kgs so far at 30 weeks I am 81kg's.
I seem to put on alot during pregnancy! lol, but I have a good diet for back up when Im finished!:D
-
Yep - I was stressed when I read how much you're supposed to put on too...
I've put on 22 kilos and have 6 weeks to go!!!
Carrying a lot of fluid doesn't help - but I never expected 22 kilos.
Reeeaaallly hoping to lose it after our bub is born - even my knees ache from carrying the added weight!!! I'm used to being 58kilos.
