Hi westy,
I was induced 5 weeks ago. I had wanted an active, drug-free, natural birth. But I was 40+12, and baby had not engaged, cervix was not ripe - my body was just not ready for birth, but being that overdue had its own risks! Had 2 lots of gel, then contractions every 2 mins for a few hours. Finally got my epidural, and ended up with emergency c-section as baby's heart rate dropped too much. Now, I know this isn't the sort of story you want to hear, but I'm telling it because I want you to know:
- I survived. It was awful, but I survived (and darn proud of myself too!!)
- I am almost completely healed from c-section (and only had pain meds for about a week)
- C-section wasn't as bad as I had expected - some of the mums who had tears looked like they were in more pain than I was
- I have a beautiful, healthy baby
So, if it ends up this way for you, you too will be ok :)
... but I hope you get the birth you want! All the best. Keep shaking!
Mel....i got my body shakin but as yet nothing has happened, although i am getting lots of pains today so i will keep up with the shaking today and hope for the best :)
