I've had heartburn for a few months now and recently started waking up choking at night so the reflux is getting worse. I can drink milk and water - anythign else, even juice creates very bad acid. Interestingly, eating fruit is ok - but fruit juice is terrible - maybe it's something that's added?
One thing I found that really really works, is putting coconut milk into meals (indian, thai) or with fish etc.. anything where it will taste ok. Maybe don't go too mad with it though - I don't think it's particularly healthy in terms of fat content, but it seems to calm the acid for at least few days.

Ive had the reflux and burping for a few weeks now, the burping is just embarassing! I started having Rennie calcium tabs and they seem to do the trick for me.
