Oh boy, when I was pregnant EVERYONE had an opinion. First of all I was huge, then tiny, got told oh no youll be having a small baby(by other people not a MW)...he was 8pd 6.5ozs and I only put on 6 kgs my entire pregnancy. If the MWs arent concerned then you shouldnt be! At 27 weeks my fundal height was 33cms..and Daniel was only 2 days overdue so pretty much on time. You dont have anything to worry about hun!

I understand how you feel. I got told that all the time. I shocked people all the way through my pregnancy at how far along I was. I even had to tell some people I was pregnant during the third tri. It must've just been the way I carried.
It used to worry me but I kept reminding myself that I was always measuring correctly & during scans all was as it should be size wise (except they always told me he was going to be short).
I got told at the 34 week scan he'd be about 7 pounds but was born 7 pound 13 at 38/4 so would've been a biggun had be arrived on schedule. He is however short but that was always expected as I'm only 5 1 & his dad is not tall.
My sister, when pregnant with her first, was told all the time she was huge. She was so sick of it. The baby was overdue and she just felt so big and over-full.
After a few days break from her morning walks (to finally have the baby), she returned to her local park pushing a pram. One guy, who said hello to her every day, said "oh, did you adopt a baby from overseas?" He had never noticed her bump!
i get told the opposite - i've never gotten told once that i'm small (and kinda wish i would)

thought I'd add to the lineup of feedback. I'm in the "what, you're pregnant?...where??" camp and at 28 weeks today, have still never had a comment from anyone other than surprise and the usual comments about being small, then they regale you with stories about people they knew who also never showed at all! I think cos I'm IVF and paid alot for this bump and waited 15 years to get it (and sure aint going back for more), I feel ripped off that it's turning out this way. Aren't we supposed to be fending off belly pats in the street and being told we look like whales? Well maybe I don't' want that, but please, I've got a gorgeous big uncomfortable belly and I've barely put on 4kg if that. I don't have the small DH, mine's 6ft2 so who knows, but if I copped a comment like are you sure it's alright, yeah I'd fairly blow a fuse...how disgusting Mayaness!. Ha, I'm with JenC, tell em to stick it...if only...:D
As long as your dr is happy with your mesaurements then i wouldn't worry. We all carry our babies differently and everyone seems to have an opinion when you are pregnant! Some people tell me I'm huge others say my bump is very small and compact... whatever! I'm happy and my baby is healthy and that is all I'm concerned about and all you should be concerned about too. ;)
I met a lady at the hospital yesterday, and we started talking, she was massive, not a big girl, but she had this massive baby bump, and i thought she would have been atleast 36 weeks, we got talking, and she was actually only 28 weeks....!!! She was a week less than me, yet her tummy was massive.
Everyone must carry differently
don't worried about it ppl come in all shapes and sizes and so do babies also ppl show differently. A friend of mine is about to have her 5th baby, she is 37weeks now and an average size belly and you couldn't even really see she was preg until about 31weeks! and then she just popped so that might happen with you and if not who cares!!
I would jut say "well I am 29weeks preg and THIS IS WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE!!"
You and your baby are just the right size and yea it is definitely possible your bubs is small after all he/she does have u and ur partners dna
Maybe its just me and I'm wierd but doesn't bother me - though has mainly only been friends who have done so as we don't have family in Australia. My hairdresser did have a rub without asking (while not a friend have been going to her for years) but haven't had complete strangers coming up to me.
I think of it as them being excited for me - like Murph01 - ours is an IVF baby so we have waited for a long time for this moment so am making the most of it .................... will probably be a lot better than the "jelly belly" I'll be left with after the big day - Im sure I won't want people rubbing / jiggling that :D
You know what my pet hate is during pregnancy? People who say "Now I can call you fatty". Beg your pardon?? You decide that the most sensitive phase of a woman's life is the best time to make value judgments on her physicality? You idiot! Whether you actually put weight on or not doesn't matter (cos I've heard - oh, but you're so small, it's just a joke...so, if it doesn't actually apply, don't say it, moron!), IMO.
That and stating whether you are carrying small or big or high or low or 'definitely' a boy or girl are all dumb things to say and people need to reinsert brains and filters!
You know the funny thing?? I totally agree, because whenever I go out to poker (and to places whereever people know me and have known me for years as a stick) they say 'Hello fatty! How are you today fatty?!' ARRRRGH! :wall::wall::wall::
I was a bit relieved after reading your post...
All along my pregnancy (now 33wks) i have been told 'wow you're so tiny' and amazed responses at how far along i am. Working in retail i get at least 3 customers everyday telling me this, and several friends who are due around the same time are sooo much bigger than me! On each of my midwife appointments i have mentioned it, to which they tell me i'm measuring right on, and it's just that i'm tall, etc.
Friends say it's a good thing that i'm 'all baby' and that most people would be jealous to look not huge.....
But as soon as i am reassured that all is fine, i get that niggly feeling that something must be wrong again. This was definately NOT helped by an article in the Herald Sun last week about a lady who was concerned that her bump was tiny and it turned out the baby was not growing properly and had to be delivered really early. That day i called the midwife in tears :cry: Again she checked my recorded measurements and the uterus is the right size, i'm just tall, etc.
So i'm really glad to hear that other's are in the same situation and i guess we are all just different in how we carry. Don't get me wrong- i'm very happy with pushing out a 6lb baby rather than a 10lb baby if that's what it's going to be, provided it's healthy!
Still, i wish everyone would just bugger off with their comments ;)
My farrier asked me the other day how much longer I had to go. I told him and he crack up laughing and said I was going to be HUUUUGGGEEE by then :lol:
I just laughed and said "yeah thanks for that"
I also had the medical receptionist yesterday tell me I looked "swell" I laughed and said " yeah swell is the right word for it"
I love when people comment on my bump - so far ;)

hahah thats all my DH calls me, i dont mind, coz i wasnt in the slightest way overweight before, im glad i have a belly now and i LOVE showing it off. heeh:
