My waters have never broken on their own, always needed to be broken.
Cx first with both of my home births. DD1 was a scheduled c/s. DD2 waters broke after about an hour of active labour, felt so good. She was born an hour and a half later.
DD3 I never felt the waters break and I assume they came out behind her. She was born in the shower and I was so shocked at her speedy arrival that I didn't notice. They certainly never broke before she was born. I'd never heard of that happening, but since have heard it a few times.
Waters broke, gushing, then back to back contractions.
With both DDs my waters didn't break until active labour, in hospital. So def. contractions first here.
It was contractions first with all three children. My first two boys were induced, and I went into natural labour with my third but all three had artificial rupturing. Was trying to hang in there with my 3rd as the doctor said my membranes were bulging, but I grew too exhausted as I hadn't really slept for 40 hours prior. So I asked them to break the membrane for me.
Absolutely nothing, no signs and then water broke first both times, followed by contractions exactly 7 minutes later (both times).
