I received one of these in the mail from my GP who knows we made the conscious decision not to vacc but DH wants to know why the form needs to be filled in. I said it's so you can claim the vacc rebate if you want to, but why else would you register? Any ideas?
if you DON'T lodge it, you won't received immunisation payment for your DD at 18-24 months and at approx 4 years
if you DON'T lodge it, and need to put your child in child care, you will not receive any child care benefit or child care rebate
for the few seconds it takes to fill it in and send it off, the financial things are well worth it.
the payments at 18-24 months and 4ish years are automatically paid if you have claimed baby bonus - but ONLY if you are either up to date with immunisation or have this form lodged - in total it's over $200 for the two payments - so for a 55c stamp, well worth it!
It's so the Childhood Immunisation Register has it recorded that you have lodged a conscientious objection to her beign vaccinated. You will need the letter from the CIR detailing this for when she is enrolled in child care/preschool/kinder etc as you will need to show proof of her immunisation status. This isn't so they can deny her a place, but so if there is an outbreak they know who is vacc and who isn't and the non-vaxed children are excluded from care for the duration of the outbreak. And yes, it does allow you to claim the rest of the maternity allowance.
