How do you help your kids...???

When they are teething???

DO you co sleep with them, panadol/nurofen, teething rings, cold washes etc???

I have a teething child who i just can't seem to help. Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to help her????

I know its teething this time cause shes dribbling heaps,nappy rash, rosy cheeks and her temp is up...

The last 2 lots of teeth we have had HEAPS of trouble with, the first few were great no issues.

sorry if i sound like a irritating ,mother, i just need reassurance that i'm doing the right things.

I use everything I can bloody think of! Often all at once.

It's awful when it feels like you can't help them and they are all sobby. Whatever works, and I stayed home with them too, so we can curl up together warm and cosy.

Anything that means we all sleep better.... Co-sleep, feed to sleep, homeopathic medicines, ice..... anything

Haven't needed it really with DD - she's teething really really well - its amazing. Must be tougher than her brother ;)

oh my goodness - some lovely ladies here on BB suggested Hylands teething tablets and they are AWESOME!! DD2 loves them! She gets happier when she sees one! :lol:

Jennjorja - I use panadol & nurofen together, let him suck on wipes, co sleep & sling use. I usually have to carry/feed him all day long, so sling is helpful.

Bath/shower's as much as possible. Anything to try & help. He hasn't had a new tooth in a good 6 months though, I think he maybe starting to teeth now. He's not real happy anyway.

We have done without teething gel for the last couple of rounds of teething, truth be told I've just been too lazy to go out and get some when she's miserable and by the time I do the shopping I simply forget to grab some :/

Mostly just distraction techniques if she's not due for a sleep - bathing is always a surefire way to get her smiling again, she just has so much fun splashing around that she forgets she's in pain, and afterwards she likes being allowed to run around nakie for a while to give her bum some air-time :)

If she wakes up during the night, I just pop her in bed with us because I'm usually so exhausted I can't bear to spend the time convincing her to go back to sleep on her own (I personally am not a fan of co-sleeping, DH and I are REALLY heavy sleepers and she has fallen out a few times and bumped her head, I'm scared of worse happening) even though having her in with us means I get barely any sleep...

She's able to hold and eat ice cubes now so I find that useful. If not, ice cubes in a sippy cup of water can help soothe sore gums.

Basically, I just let DD get away with murder as long as it keeps her happy while she's teething hehehe - junk food, running around outside when it's too hot (provided she has sunscreen, a hat and proper clothes on!), cuddles and stories when I should be doing housework.... whatever makes my life easier lol :)

DS is teething at the moment and I don't often give him panadol, tried to but he just spat it back at me so that was a waste of time.
I have resorted to co-sleeping and lot's of cuddles.

I've only just got her to sleep but thinking i might be co sleeping tonight even though i'm not personally a fan of it... i'm just so tired!

When DD was particularly bad, I would give her panadol and neurophen together as well as SM33 on a special teething dummy (it is shaped like a mouth guard). I keep the teething dummy in the fridge so it is always cool and soothing on the gums. She can also move it to chew where she needs it. The gel on it allows her to place it where needed without getting my fingers chomped!!!

Other than that - loads of cuddles and distraction.

Hey there. The hyland teething tablets are really good. But also perhaps consider it may not be teething but something else. If her temp is higher than 37.5 then it is most likely something else. We have mistaken illness in the past for teething (hmmm ok more than once) and only in the end did it click. Big hugs

great post...never heard of those tablets. i will definitely look out for them.

Look into amber teething necklaces - seriously. I didn't think it would work, but it's done wonders for me and I have a much calmer (albeit still very sick) child since I put one on him.
