Hi girls,
I am going to be attempting a VBAC2 with my 3rd bub and just wanted to get an idea of what doctors and people and general think of this!?
Am I still considered high risk even though I had a completely natural VBAC Waterbirth.
Thanks
L.

I am pretty sure that once there is a scar on your uterus, as far as the medical profession is concerned, you are high risk. As with a first vbac, the possibility of a uterine rupture, no matter how unlikely, scares people. You are however considered to be much more likely to be successful with your vbac if you have had a previous vaginal delivery so it may be easier to find a doctor to support your choice.
Do you want to deliver somewhere different to last time? Do you need new support people? What are your concerns this time around?
A VBAC2 I would interpret as a vaginal birth after 2 C/S. I assume though you mean you have had one C/S though if you have had a waterbirth and this is baby no3. Am I right? If you have had any C/S you are considered higher risk despite having a previous C/S. If you have only had one C/S (depending on the reason of course) you wont have a problem finding a dr who is more then happy for you to have a VBAC and if you have had a previous VBAC then even better. If on the other hand you have had 2xC/S its much harder to find a care provider that is happy for you to have a VBAC but it certainly happens you just need to find the right place/people.
I would consider you risk with bub no3 (1 C/S 1 NVD) higher then 2NVD but alot less then 2C/S if that makes sense. If you have had one previous C/S 1NVD I don't think any of the care providers would have any great concern for you delivering vaginally third time and would encourage you too if it were there choice. I don't think I have made much sense sorry.
I was wondering that as I knew that was how its normally written but I haven't seen it written VBAC2 for number 2 vaginal birth after 1 C/S. At work its writeen VBAC x1 or VBAC x2 or C/S x3 etc.
Congrats on your pregnancy!! I just had a VBAC2 and yes they do still class you as high risk.... HOWEVER, I found it more empowering in answering their questions and telling them what I WANTED to happen BUT at the same time let them know that I did understand and wasn't silly if their was a medical reason for something needing to be done. So, I basically pandered to them in some respects and chose which battles to fight... not that I had to but things like I let them put the canula in cos it wasn't hurting anyone if that makes sense. Ended up this time being a completely spontaneous and natural labour with waters breaking on their own and no interventions...YAY!
Thanks everyone.... my second birth was a great experience and definitely has empowered me to go for it a second time... I guess because my first 2 births were SO completely different, number 3 will be hopefully breezy, I hope!! Now I have given birth and used my birth canal, hopefully this one will just fly out!! :D
Hi,
At my hospital they are very happy for you to try VBAC, if there's no risk for any other reason of course. DS1 was poterior, and I'd had an epidural and so they recommended an emergency caesar as I was getting tired. I don't regret it, but wish it hadn't happened IUKWIM?
My 2nd I was offered a VBAC straight away. Before that first app, I thought once a caesar..... but after that was offered I spent the rest of the pregnancy being completely confused over it all. My 2nd labor was almost identical right down to ending up in the theatre just incase I needed a caesar. But they got DS2 out with suction. The difference in the feeling after getting bubs out the right way was amazing!!! After the epi wore off I had a shower and picked up bubs myself, it was the beest thing. I'm aiming for that again.
However....I want things to be a little different this time. I don't want to be stuck in bed, I don't want to be continuously monitored and I want to be able to use the shower. I'm trying desperately to avoid an epidural.
I got stuck at 9cm and ended up with my second CS. :( How far between CS and VBAC is recommended? I REALLY want a VBAC next time and want to know how long to wait before TTC again to give me the best chance.
When I got preggas with DS2, DS1 had just turned 1 year. I think we concieved the day before he turned one actually. But my doc said that it was good that I had given it a year before getting pregnant again, but some docs/OB's are different.
Sorry it didn't work out as planned for you Joey. :(
I read that you have more chance of success if there is 2 years or more between your labours. I think it it so the rest of your body can recover completely too, not just your scar. There are plenty of people on here who have had VBACs with less gap than that though.
