Recurrent chemical pregnancies.. help...

I have been trying to conceive for 3 years. There was one ectopic preg and multiple times of chemical pregnancies. I almost want to give up. Yesterday I tested positive and today it becomes faint line (now should be in week 4 + 5 days). So I think I got a chemical preg again. I just can feel it coming because I lost the symptom at cycle 28th day when I felt a short and sharp pain. No blood, nothing. Just lost the symptoms after that... Did blood test yesterday, will get the results tmr...

I just arrive to Sydney not long ago and I need help! Can someone recommend good fertility specialists (better to be female) who are patient? I hope it will be near Chatswood... I always go to Clinics but I think I need a specialist to tell me what's going on in my body....

Welcome to Belly Belly, Catherine, although I'm sorry it's under such sad circumstances.

I don't live in Sydney, but wanted to offer you some support as I have had 2 chemical pregnancies in our (almost) 3 years of trying. Hopefully someone will be able to offer you the name of an excellent specialist in your area. Good luck.

I can't help with any names of fertility experts but I would recommend finding one and having tests for recurrect m/c. I think some of the IVF clinics like at westmead offer a service that you pay for (around $1500 I was told) maybe its something like low progesterone (needs to be a certain level to carry a pregnancy) and it can be managed with vaginal suppositries et. I'd definately get a referral to a gyno or fertility specialist to see if its something obvious like the progesterone which is making you m/c early in your pregnancies. GL I hope you find out why soon and have a beautful bubba in your arms before long. Oh and also it can be the males sperm that isn't good quailty so Id get that checked too. I'm not really sure what they are suppose to be but I nursed a woman who had a baby from IVF. She had no problem falling pregnant but at 14-16weeks she would m/c. After the third time she had testing that showed her husband (who had a bad accident and damaged his below parts) had 5% normal sperm the rest had funny heads, flat heads, triangle ones etc. Only 5% were normal shape and mobility so her babies had not being developing normally. With IVF they took a good one and inplanted it into her egg and she carried to full term and had a beautiful healthy baby. Just an example and I would explore both avenues. :pray: for you and for a speedy baby.

I'm in Melb so can not really help with the name of a specialist in Sydney, but can I suggest that you try this area of BB http://forums.bellybelly.com.au/forums/long-term-ttc/ ...there are lots of girls here who have been trying for a long time for their precious little ones, and I'm sure they will offer lots of support and help. There are some girls who are currently going through SIVF - so they may be able to provide you with suggested FS names.

Thank you so much for all the replies. It seems that I really need to do further testing, more blood test, etc. to find out the problems. But I really very depressed. Firstly, I don't know why my grandmum have 10 children, my mum have 3 children and I couldn't conceive as easy as them? There is lots of pressure here as I'm not young anymore. Secondly, the cost of specialist is really expensive. I called the SIVF in Chatswood, the first consultation fee is about $200 already, which the Dr. does nothing but talking to you only. I can't imagine the subsequent tests? Thirdly, even GP refers you to a so called Specialist, I am not sure if the Specialist will listen to your problems patiently. I found most GPs are not that friendly already, i think those Specialists might be worse? Some of them are liked doing mechanical jobs. Women needs more patient doctors who can listen to them. I know my body better than them, isn't it? Few months ago, I talked to a GP and begging him to refer me to a fertility specialist, he BS a lot. Saying that I should wait and try naturally, don't be so stressful about it and eventually refuse to refer me to anyone. I am now sad, depressed and I know many sisters in this forums are very positive and keep trying. I really really admire you all.

Dont feel bad about being sad or depressed - we all have been there - it is a normal reaction to a situation that we struggle to makes sense of. The cost of IVF can be a barrier, but the safety net does help and different clinics have different cost structures that may help you out, have a peek at http://forums.bellybelly.com.au/foru...olved-ivf.html to get some basic info.

In terms of GPs - keep trying and use BB to help you find a specialist that you might be comfortable with - we all have different preferences and many of us have got second (or third) opinions before finding someone we want to start the IVF journey with - I guess you just have to start somewhere.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks in Jan and two chemical pregnancies since that time. I, too, finally decided to see a specialist during my last cycle. Her name is Dr Devora Lieberman (SIVF in Kent Street) and so far she has been fantastic. Kind, caring, patient and most of all she actually listened to my concerns and once again gave me hope. She has tested for all sorts of things on various days throughout my cycle. My husband has also been tested. I get the results this coming week so hopefully something will show up as to why this keeps happening. With Dr Lieberman's office you also have 24/7 contact with a specialist midwife who has been absolutely wonderful. I too paid around $200 for the initial consultation but after that most of the blood tests are bulk billed through Medicare. The ones that aren't covered by Medicare so you do get a rebate back.
