How to do cloth and day care

I'm going to be having a meeting with the daycare owner where DS will be going to next year and i just want to know how you do cloth at daycare?

DS will be the only cloth wearer there and i want to make it as easy as possible for them.
I was thinking that maybe i would take a 'fresh' nappy bucket with me in the morning and take it home when we pick him up - does that sound right?? Do you ask them to do what you would do - eg the poo scraping (cause i wouldnt want it left in there all day) or do i need to use liners?

So what do you do?

We give them pockets - either bumg, green kids or ecobubs.

We don't put liners in them but have asked for the poo to be plonked in the loo anyway (which is what they should be doing with the sposies anyway) but it always comes home with us *sigh*

We just give them a wetbag and they put the nappy in the wetbag and then put it in a bucket of their own and then lock it in a cupboard.

I did cloth at day care with no worries. I sent Magicalls (AIO) so it was super easy for them, and a wet bag for each DS.

Of the last 3 centres where I have worked, 2 have offered their own cloth service (terry flats bleached to blazes - cringe!) The other there was one clothy bot. His mum provided an Itty Bitty bin, lined it with a plastic bag, and we would pop all the nappies in there, then she lifted out the bag at the end of the day and took them home. She also used liners, and they made it super-easy for everyone. Plastic bags not optimal though, and I know QLD Dept is completely anally retentive about their existence :rolleyes:
Where I work now, there are some parents who don't want us to wash their clothes, so they provide wetbags, and that works quite well.
A lot of courses still teach you how to fold and use terry flats (I think they all should!) So that's an option too - send him in those. No drama if they stuff up and put the wrong cream on him, or decide to soak them in bleach, or one gets lost or whatever other nappy dramas can happen (Mel can elaborate, I'm sure;))

omg. the daycare down the road flat out refused to have cloth nappies. how "unhygenic" she call them. Um, you put them in a bucket instead of the bin and I take the bucket home... Not hard at all.

The family daycare lady he goes to instead doesn't get cloth nappies AT ALL. I sent him with AIO's (otherwise she provides disposables). She didn't understand - I'd change him into a fresh one when he got there, then put it in the nappy bucket. When dh picked him up, only 1 more nappy in the bucket. He's there 7-3. So, while we are taking our time with toilet training, I send him to her with disposable training pants(to make it easier for her)... even those don't get changed as often as I'd like... The babysitter I use has no issues what so ever!

We have had parents use cloths - they provide us with a nappy bucket to put nappies into. We tip out poo, throw liners away for poo ones. Parent collects bucket at end of day. It's a bit tricky with the nappy covers though. One parent wasn't providing enough and bub was leaving wet spots about the place eachtime she weed!

The centre our girls go to requires us to supply nappies so I said that I was not going to spend extra on nappies I dont even use at home. I send a fresh bucket and flushable liners, they ask for 6 nappies per day and usually use 4 or 5. I send nappies that dont need covers, and all the bits are in the right place so all they need to do is open the nappy, put the liner and her on it and do it up. They flush the liner when it is done with and throw the nappy in the bucket, which is in the laundry.

I guess i'll see whether they prefer the bucket or wet bag option - either is fine by me.

snugglybean i didnt think about them losing nappies :o Maybe i need to get some that are just for daycare (like i need an excuse to buy lol).

I'll definately be sending him in pockets and AOI's so its easy and there shouldnt be too many grumbles.

I have some liners that i have never used so i might bust those out and see what happens.

Gosh he isnt even going for another 8 months and i cant belive i have to think about this stuff already ;)
