I am hitting 20months TTC and one pregnancy resulting in a miscarriage and Im considering getting a Hysterosalpingogram or HSG Testing for Tube Blockages.
Just wanting to know whether anyone in Newcastle has had it done, where they went, who they saw...if not in Newcasrle, then anywhere else in Australia. Where you had it done, what it was like and what they found etc..
I didnt want to have to go down the path of assisted conception but im guessing this is where we're headed :(

I've had an HSG. Before I start, I want to let you know that everyone has a different experience and some find it ok, others not so much.
I had mine in September last year. The Dr told me that it would be just like a pap smear. It wasn't. I found it very uncomfortable to the point of painful, but that was probably because one of my tubes was blocked and they unblocked it there and then. I was given 50mg of pethidine (which ended up being too much - they totally od'd me!). They inject dye into your uterus and it was that which I found to be very uncomfortable. As my uterus filled up with dye, it contracted loads and was like my worst period ever.
Thankfully the procedure didn't take too long, around 20 minutes.
That is just my experience though, others find it not so bad. I hope that you get some other replies to prove that, and don't be put off from what I have written.
It's also important to note that I fell pregnant straight away after this procedure. Unfortunately miscarried but that is by the by. I still fell pregnant.

I have been reading up on different techniques of the procedure and Ill be writing it all down and taking printouts to the gynae on monday to get something underway! Im so happy to be on the path of gaining answers.

I've had it done too but not in Newcastle. It doesn't much matter where you get it done the procedure is the same. ;)
My experience was different - I had no problems - obviously coffee and cake is a nicer option but for me it was a bit uncomfy - but it was over before I knew it.
I didn't require any analgesia.
Wishing you luck - the gynae is likely to do it on the day... I hope you get some answers soon too my love. My guess is he will do the HSG and some clomid. I :pray: you get your sticky baby soon... :hug:
My experience was the same as Flowerchild's. I actually conceived on that cycle.

Wow that would be GREAT if she could do it on the day!!! I think I might be out for this cycle then if she does? I will be on CD 11, coming into the"green" period of the FF chart.
My FS was pretty specific in saying that HSG's need to be done on CD10. So that they are sure that your period has gone and you haven't ovulated yet. Apparently that is best practice.
