DD kinda choked - scary!
DD is 7 weeks and 2 days old today. I was changing her nappy earlier when she did this weird scary thing that seemed like she was choking.
All of a sudden she couldn't breathe, for about 10 seconds I think (I wasn't exactly timing it, though - it seemed like forever). She went bright red and I picked her up so she was more vertical rather than lying flat. Then she got her breath back and she screamed like crazy for a couple of minutes, then calmed down.
She did the same thing, not as badly, a few minutes later, when I leaned her back down. DH flipped her onto her tummy, which was clearly better, as she calmed down quite quickly.
Maybe 10 minutes after that she seemed fine and fed as usual, and when I changed her nappy again she was fine. Now she's sleeping quite peacefully.
It was so scary to see her not being able to breathe and she seemed terrified by it (as you would be). Do you think it was just that thing where you get some liquid down the wrong way and you need to cough but you can't draw breath properly to cough it out? That's all I can think of that it could have been and her be OK so soon afterwards. I sure hope it was only that.
Has anyone else's bub done something like this?

Was it a bit like when a cat is trying to make itself throw up? Big gaping mouth over and over? DD does that occasionally, the first time really freaked me out... I think it is as you think, something going down the wrong way type thing but I would be really interested to hear what others know about this.

I don't know about cats, but this was much more urgent than when my dog chokes or coughs on something. DD was really scared by it, I think, and she turned bright red.
It really makes me think I'd better book us in for those infant-CPR lessons...

Given bubs' age I would ask a GP about it. It's not something I would leave to chance or see if it happens again and you don't know what it may be a symptom of.
