i just rang a child care centre and she asked what my percentage was to give an idea of price. i said off the top of my head it was about 43% so its about 36 bucks a day. but i just checked and the percentage is actually 46%. i never understand how this percentage thingy works, but do you reckon the higher percentage will make the fee more or less than $36. hope that makes sense.

i only get 10% so dont notice bbut i get a good return from child care tax rebate for out of pocket expenses
Actually, no it doesn't mean it covers that percentage of fees - parents on 100% still have to pay something, parents with two kids and 104% don't get money back. It is a really bad way of wording it because parents get confused by it - it is kinda like scheduled fees with the doctor, centres charge above the part the government pays so you end up paying something.
But to answer the original question, the higher the %, the lower your fees will be. So in your case, you will pay less than the quote because your % will be higher.
Remember if you're working you will also get 50% of what you pay back each quarter.
The percentage is the discount you get off the hourly rate set by the government.
However most child care centres charge above this set rate.
For example if the set rate is $5/hour but centre charges $6/hour and your percentage is 50%, then you will get charged $3.50/hour not $2.50/hour.
