Has this happened to anyone else??

Early on in my pregnancy I developed shooting pains in my knees when I kneeled. Later on I would get shooting pains in my hands and also developed numbness in my hands and knees. Towards the end of pregnancy I could barely use my hands at all from the awful shooting pain and I had pins and needles. I also got the same pains and numbness in my feet and knees.

I ended up having a c/s and my feet absolutely ballooned! Then the pain and numbness in my feet got so much worse. I could barely walk.

I expected this to all go away after a short time after the c/s but for a very long time I still suffered from the pain and numbness in my hands, knees and feet! I saw doctors and osteos and they all said "that's weird". Only one osteo offered me some possible explanation which is that the swelling could have caused nerve damage and nerves can take a long time to heal. One doctor suggested arthritis but I don't have any other arthritis symptoms and there has been improvements.

My DD is now 8 1/2 months. The pain has gone thankfully but I still have one numb thumb and numb parts on my feet. And if I press certain parts of my wrist or feet I can cause the pain the numbness.

Anyway, I'm just wondering if there is anyone else out there who has experienced this? Because from all the reactions from doctors I feel like I am the only one.

In you arms I would say it might be Carpel Tunnel or inflammation of the nerves ( I think they are similar anyways)

I did develop numbness in the feet and knees and my spine hurt for ages after my 2nd c/s. It was more noticable after my 3rd. I did a little research and it might have been nerve damage from the spinals.. I guess if you had the pain before then had a spinal it might have the same effect kwim?

Just type your symptoms into google (don't freak yourself out over the scary stuff though) but you might find some useful information

Tanya, sounds like Carpal Tunnel to me too. My hands and fingers get tingly but not enough for me to go and do something about it. Happens usually when I'm sleeping so I think I'm pressing on a nerve or something.

Have you thought about a chiropractor? I've heard they are pretty good at helping with that sort of stuff.

I still get numbness is my hands and fingers from time to time. I had the test for carpel tunnel a year ago and was told surgery was the only option and I said no to that and bought a splint. I only bought one and I wore it as often as possible and it really seems to have fixed it. I haven't had the need to wear my splint in 10 months now..

As for the legs. That comes and goes but is rare now. Drs have no idea either. I cn lean backwards now and have almost no pain (where the epi/spinal went in) It doesn't effect my day to day life at all anymore. For my hands I just stop what I am doing and hold my hands above my head for a bit.

Yeah when I was pregnant I was sure the hands were Carpel Tunnel and I bought a splint to wear overnight which did help a bit. But my OB kept saying that it wasn't Carpel Tunnel. I don't know why she didn't think it was Carpel Tunnel? Thing is I had the problem with my knees and feet too while pregnant and I don't think that's part of Carpel Tunnel. Now my knees are back to normal and my hands are almost back to normal and don't bother me at all. My feet still bother me though - there are numb bits all the time. I can live with them being like that though. I am just worried if I got pregnant a second time everything would be much worse a second time round.
