The very first tantrum!
We have reached a milestone- DS chucked his very first mini-tanty today. I was trying to get something done in the kitchen and he was being a typical clingy 12 month old and needing to hold onto my legs at all times. Well, I finally managed to distract him with the tupperware cupboard for a few minutes, but then I walked too close to him and I could see him start to come over to me- I thought maybe I could just kind of walk past him to the fridge, but as soon as I was out of reaching range, he fell from crawling posi onto his tummy and started flailing his arms and legs up and down and banging his hands on the ground. I was so surprised that first I started laughing and then I ran out of the room yelling to my husband "hey! Peter had his first tanty- you have to see this!". It was all over in a matter of seconds. But a line has been crossed....welcome to Tantyville.
Do you remember your LO's first tanty?

All I can say Amberj is get used to it. They get pretty bad. I've just had to deal with a massive 2 1/2 year old one and I just want to go in to a corner and cry.

I know, I'm scared. I was hoping to hold off a bit longer.

We had out first a couple of days ago after not being allowed to bring a wet umbrella inside. DD is 18months so we did pretty well getting this far- and it was more a screaming fit than throwing herself on the floor. Not nice......
-
Wow Katierabbit, you did so well to get to 18 months, my DS is 18 months also and I've had to put up with tantrums since he was around 11 months!

We've had a few but DS is pretty good. My advice, distraction, distraction, distraction.
I do remember a ripper in the shops once when he wanted to eat a banana before I'd paid for it. So very embarrasing.

these are really just starting here (i know i am lucky). they are usually over food... ie if dinner isnt ready when he gets home from creche (lol!!!)... distraction works for most other things... so far!

im with Evie... I remember ava's first tanty, thought it was funny and now it's a daily occurance! Wait till peter does it in the shops! That's my favourite, because you can't discipline them with out everyone staring at you and judging how your doing it :wall:

:o LOL Jazz had her first a few weeks ago, it was hilarious! Her heads went up on the side of her head, she throw herself face down, and screamed.
Not so funny now though

I haven't had a throw on the floor crying, but I have had the face screwed up and yelling at the top of his lungs throwing toys kind... Fun. NOT...
