Fever in week 5

Hi guys,

I am nearly 6 weeks pregnant. I have had a stuffy nose and sore throat for the past week. My throat has got worse over the last two days and i went to the doc today who put me on antibiotics and took my temp which was 37.4 slightly high. She told me fevers are dangrous so i should take panadol to regulate my temperature. I am stressing out now that maybe in the past fw days I have had a fever and not been aware. A few times I have been hot at night but if anything its that i am a little cold at times but it is winter. Has any one else had a similar experience and it been ok? This is my first pregnancy so i am worried and not sure what is normal

Hi Jojo, I had a few really hot nights (was sick AND left the heater on) about a month ago wouldn't be surprised if my temp got up that high. I had also had a few baths that were alittle hot, not realising it untill I got out and I was bright red. At the time I was worried too but everything seems fine. I read somewhere at the time that the babies enviroment has a way of regulating most temps. Please don't quote me on this as I only read it and I doubt it was from a doc. Keep up the panadol, I'm sure your doctor would have taken more serious measures if she felt it was necessary. Congrats on your pregnancy :hug:

Thankyou for the info and congrats to you as well. I have been checking my temps regularily and all has been ok. I think if i had a really high temp I would have known...hopefully. I go for a scan next week so hopefully it will put my mind at ease. Thankyou for the congrats and info it made me feel better:)
