Appetite suddenly dropping

I don't know what is wrong with DD1. She just won't drink enough milk. For the last two days she has struggled to get through 500 mls each day. The only feed she doesn't fight is her 3 am feed (she will take 140 mls). The other feeds she will happily take about 30 mls and then starts screaming. We struggle for another 30-40 mls before she is screaming so much we just have to stop. She arches her back and spits the bottle out and even tries to push the bottle away with her hand. We have to be really quick and shove the bottle in her mouth before sh is fully awake and she will take it. We have tried heating the formula, different teats, different positions etc but she just doesn't want it. The moment we take the bottle out of her mouth she is calm again. I know it isn't her mouth though because she happily takes her dummy. She still has plenty of wet and dirty nappies.

Any ideas?

How often are you feeding her atm?

That is symptomatic of reflux. My DD does the same thing. (but on the boob) if you are really concerned, it is worth a trip to the GP to investigate reflux

She isn't spewy at all, could it still be reflux? ta :)

Also, what can I do / give her to get her to drink again?

it could be silent reflux - Sounds exactly like what Miss B had - she wasnt spewy at all!

i was gonna say reflux too. until u can get to the GP mayb put her milk in a syringe and feed it to her that way. It may take a long time but atleast she will still be getting the milk.

Yeah I was gonna suggest silent reflux too. Miss M was exactly the same. Go to the GP babe!

Last night X had the mother of all diarrhea nappies, it soaked through a NN, out the legs, all over her sheets. After this she seemed to feed properly again. Should I still see the GP? I am confused about why a large runny poo stopped her from feeding properly.

Sounds to me like either silent reflux OR a tummy bug.... there are some nasty gastro bugs going around at the moment... has she had a temp or been feeling hot?
I'd see the GP just to get her checked over and talk about it.

Sometimes babies go through feeding refusal like they do on the breast (breast refusal) so perhaps it could be a type of bottle refusal that is just temporary where she fusses? It will pass if this is what it is. :hug:
