Thrush....extrememly itchy!!

Okay, so i think i have thrush.

For the last few days ive been very itchy and sore down there to wipe.
Its a lot around the vagina opening, etc.

I havent been to the docs, as ive had thrush before, and it feels the same. So i went straight to the pharmacy and got the vaginal thrush treatment with the insert applicators.
I asked the lady at the counter if its safe for 23/40. and she said to try using the cream just around the outside, and maybe using the applicators, but just half inserting them.

I have done it yesterday and today, and im still in so much itchy pain. Could it be anything more than thrush? has anyone else safely used the internal applicators. Im worried it may erode the seal that closes off my uterus or something.

Me and DP have also stopped having sex for a few days whilst i try to clear the thrush up.

Please give me some help, tips, etc

It does sound like it could be thrush. It is OK to use the internal applicator and I agree that you should only insert it half way. A few other things that you may want to try are:-
Pro Biotic yoghurt eat plenty of this and also insert it into your vagina.
Spend as much time as you can without undies. (thrush loves warm damp places)
No pantihose
No tight pants

I only have 6 applicators and they have to be used for the canasten.

I feel as though its getting more itchy, and ive applied canasten for 3 days now :(

Also last night my DP commented on how badly inflamed/swollen my vaginal lips were.

Is this all normal? I havent been scratching much, and was worried why my lips were VERY swollen

To insert the yoghurt you can use a large 20ml syringe, you should be able to get one from the chemist or your local hospital may even give you a couple for free 9tell them what you want it for). Some swelling is not unusual however if there is no improvement by tomorrow it may be a good idea to pay a visit to your doctor.

I would get it properly diagnosed firstly! However I know when I have had it in pregnancy the 5 or 6 day treatment is the only one that works and keeps in away. Those overnight creams did nothing! With the 6 day one it cleared after about 3 days but you keep on using it till finished. I used the 'tablet' things and inserted them with a finger and not the applicator.

I've been getting it on and off this pg - seems to have settled down now, I hope!
I used the internal applicators - as my midwife said, no-one's really going to ram them up there, for comfort's sake, if nothing else!
I also (on advice) have taken to inserting acidophilous capsules inside - they dissolve and release good bacteria in the target area.
Trust me, I know how hideous it can be, especially when you develop lesions and you can barely walk and all you want to do is stay in bed to pretend it's not happening :(

okay, i think it may finally be clearing up a little.

still a tiny bit itchy, but a lot less, and inflamed are has gone down.

but silly me had sex with DP last night (sorry i couldnt wait any longer). he showered straight after, but now im worried he may pass it back onto me once ive cleared it.

also, is it normal for thrush to smell? I have an unusual odour, and wasnt sure if its the cream or the smell of the infection?

Thrush does have a smell...like a yeasty smell. You could always treat DP as well just to make sure it doesn't get passed back. Hope it clears up too I know how yuck it is!
