Bottles in cot
Is it a terrible thing to give your LO a bottle in bed and let them feed themself and go back to sleep?
During the day and before bed, I am more than happy to feed DS myself- actually, he holds his bottle himself, but I sit with him.
But for the middle of the night, we have started trying to reduce and water down his feed and eventually it will only be warm water (so no teeth issues). Is it OK to just zip out of bed, warm up his bottle, give it to him in his cot to feed himself and snuggle back into bed? It would be soooo much easier! But of course, I don't want to do anything that would hurt him. He does have a pillow under his cot sheet, so he's not completely flat drinking.

Nina did it, and Emily does it now, and both my girls are fine. We took the bottle off Nina at around 20 months (just before Emily was born) and we'll probably do it at the same age for Emily.

i have done cot feeding with my Alistair since he was probably 6 months. He associates bottle with sleep and usually that is what happens anyway he has a feed and wants to sleep so that wasnt a problem. Now he is 12 mths he tends to toss the bottle out of cot lol and goes back to sleep.... it is easier for you and him..

ARRGGHHH worst thing we ever did!! started off thinking it was a great idea, took a good 3-4 months before it turned bad!
some things my DD would do, just so u know-
Cried whenever her bottle was empty
Peed through her pants nearly every single night
worked out how to squeeze the teat to make the milk come out, on her cot, carpet, bedside, hair, u name it milk went on it!
and it took us a very very long time to get her to stop taking it to bed.
thats not saying ur tyke will do this but please be aware of what can go wrong...milk in the carpet is not a very pleasant smell!!

I did it with the older 2 but I never bottle fed past 1 year (was a cup from then on) and I would give them their sippy cup of water and they would put it next to them and drink it when they wanted :)
