Ultrasound for twins
Just wondering if anyone has had an ultrasound and been told they weren't having twins only to find that they were indeed carrying two babies?
I have had extreme nausea and very high HCG levels all the way (am 12 weeks now) and have a huge bump already (measuring the same around my waist now as I did when I was 5-6 months with the other pregnancies). I had an ultrasound at around 7wks and only one tiny sac was seen - but I'm not convinced.
Have I just been day dreaming too much? How often do you think they are incorrect at 7weeks?

i guess there is a chance they missed one! are you having another scan before 20 weeks?

There is always a chance...i was told only one baby today until the very end when she caught a glimpse of the second sac...she almost missed it, so if you are concerned defintiely ask for another scan.....or if you are having a Nuchal scan it should get picked up then.

I was told I was having one at my 7 week scan but when my OB did a scan in the eighth week, he found two. He said he almost missed it but happened to get them both at the same time. I am now 12 weeks and it is really obvious on the scan!

I am having another ultrasound in a few days so I will find out for sure then. I just wanted to hear if it did happen to people - and i guess it does as you girls have shown!
Will be interested to see what happens with my ultrasound - not sure how we'd cope with two more but i'll worry about that when and if it happens :)

A girl in my antenatal aqua aerobics class is pregnant with twins and she didn't find out until a scan at 16 weeks! The earlier scan(s) only showed one bubba so she said it was a bit of a random shock!

I guess it makes sense because can't two babies share the one sack? Also as cool as ultra sounds are they don't always pick up EVERYTHING! How exciting!!! OR nerve-wracking? Either way tell us when you know!

a girl I know well was told only one at a 6 and 8 week scans (she was having issues) but then at the 12 week she got the surprise of her life)

just wanted to wish you luck for your ultrasound, let us know how you go :)
