First Haircut
Hi Everyone in wonderful Advice Land! ;)
My DD has never had a proper haircut (currently 21 months), shes had her fringe trimmed to keep it out of her eyes. Shes got gorgeous curls and DH won't let me cut it.
I was told that I HAVE to have her hair cut (by a staffer at the gym) cos its all dead hair anyway and to make it grow properly it needs cutting.
Now, DD had a bit of hair at birth but its really taken off in the last coupla months so I don't think its a growth problem but has anyone else heard of this? Do I have to get her hair cut? I was just going to let it keep growing until it becomes unmanagable.

My girls hair did thicken up after the first cut, but that was after they decided to go short!
DD1 didn't have any hair til she was 3, so I was quite proud when it was down to her shoulders at nearly 4 - til she decided it should be shorter & cut it. It ended up above her ears :(
Then DD2's hair started getting little ringlets at the bottom, but I think DD1 was jelouse - she cut half DD2's off so it was up to her ears when fixed  She also cut her fringe a week later, lol.
So it did look neater & tidier, but, as I said, DD1 was 3 before she even got a trim, 4 was her first actual cut. You don't have to cut it til your ready :)

Hair is dead! There is no need to cut it - it doesnt know its been cut! It wont grow any differently, just look different! :)
You let it grow as long as you like hun :)

theres no reason why you have to get it cut, cutting wont actually make it 'grow thicker', hair grows from the scalp so cutting the ends will not make any differance to how it grows out. people believe this because when it is cut blunt it appears thicker as all the wispy ends have gone. does that make sense?
you just do whatever you want to do. imo if you like it then just leave it! there is plenty of time for haircuts!

My DD's hair got thicker after her first cut. She's 16 months and going for her 3rd cut tomorrow. I now only get her fringe trimmed and started with hair cuts when her hair was getting in her eyes.

NO, NO, if you don't want to do it then NO....it doesn't make any difference. If you love it how it is then keep it that way. My DS is 2.4yrs & has had 2 cuts....or should say very small trims!!! I love his blonde curls & no one is taking them away. My MIL is always telling me you need to cut it & SIL little girl has had 3 cuts now....big deal...she also has no hair & perhaps that's why LOL!!!! You leave it how you wish.
