Double pram or toddler seat??

I have been having a bit of a look at what is available and I am stumped. I would love to get a toddler seat for my pram, Valco Everest but they dont seem to do one for that style. :dunno:
I have a girlfriend who has twins and she originally started with a side by side pram but then swapped to the back and front type (Sorry I hope you know what I mean, my explanation is a bit vague.) as she didnt like the the restrictions the side by side had.

Scout will be almost 2 by the time this one arrives so do I even need a double pram?? I had a toddler seat on a mountain buggy with my first two boys as they were 19mths apart and it was well used which makes me think I would prefer to have the option than not, but I just dont know which way to go.:rolleyes:

I have the adventure buggy, toddler seat alot easier I think just trying to manouvere around shops can be hard enough with a pram let alone a side by side.

im in a similar predicament. my DD will be only 13months tho when bub arrives.
So ive been asking around mums & the local awesome baby shop.
We have a babyco brand 3 wheel pram at the moment (can't remember what they are called) unfortunately no toddler seat etc and she wont be a age suitable for one of those universal ramps, nor do i think its safe for any little kid to just ride along in between mum and pram.. ah rambling :doh:
anyways we have decided on the side by side twin pram. Wish i could remember the brand. It had single hoods for each seat and each side could be up or down. It was also a 3 wheeler which is better than the 4 wheel ones (some engineer thingy DH was going on about).
the downsides of the toddler seat add ons is that they obviously can't lie down while in the toddler seat. the downside of the one behind the other is another lie down/space issue.

If I was going to have another, which where not I would go with the abc adventure buggy with the lay down toddler seat on the hood. I have sceene on in real life and they look great and the person with it said it is great. As the baby goes on the top and larger child in the normal seat part.

P&T... big fan here. I have a VIBE. My nearly 2 year old has enough support in the toddler seat that he can sleep comfortably (has a slight recline and is a full seat rather than those harness type seat things). I needed something that he could sleep in for periods because I live so far from town and when we get the pram out, it's out for a good 4-6 hours on end. Very light, can steer with one finger even with 2 kids in it, excellent brakes, LOVE the fact that the wheels will just pop off really easily if I need more boot space, and can fit a rain cover or sun cover over BOTH kids at the same time. I love everything about it. I know people whinge that they wouldn't be able to get to the shopping basket, but I don't see that as too much of a negative when everything else is so positive. I have a messenger style nappy bag that goes over my shoulder and I also have the saddle bags (I only need one at a time) which can carry quite a bit, and I've never had them come out any farther than the rear wheels.

I would definitely go the side by side twin pram. My girls are 12 months apart so I needed "real" pram seats for each of them. I am now on my 5th pram for the two of them so I've seen them all.

It is definitely an either love it or hate it pram but I hate my P&T - both when the toddler seat is on top and on the bottom/back of the pram. DD2 hated it too. I had a one in front of the other (tandem) which DD1 hated - the toddler seat at the front in all of them is quite short and she slouches. Its also a pain when the second child grows up a bit and kicks the seat in front. The side by side is occasionally a pain to get around shopping centres but generally is fine and I've found its by far the easiest way to deal with two small ones. I've got a double valco for walking which is fantastic, but huge and heavy when folded. I have a city mini double that lives in the car for shopping trips and its brilliant - easy to steer, individual hoods, individual reclines (including flat for newborn), REALLY easy to fold/unfold.

Something to think of with the add on bike thing is that while 39 cms doesn't sound like much to add on, that is much more than the difference between a single and side by side double. I also agree with comments that its nice for your toddler to be able to sleep if necessary.
