DH a little weirded out by movements.

Just curious how many of you find that your DH thinks the baby's movements are a little weird.
My DH is a great dad, wonderful husband, excited about the pregnancy and baby, etc. But he's not really that interested in feeling baby move. When I point it out to him, or grab his hand to feel it, he often says something along the lines of "It's kind of odd, don't you think?" or "Does it ever make you feel really strange to have a PERSON inside you?! That's kind of crazy, if you think about it."
Anyone else's DH have similar feelings? In one way it bothers me a little, 'cause I feel like he's kind of detached from it all, but in another way, I'm fine with it, 'cause he's telling me the truth, and I know he'll be thrilled to see and hold this baby in real life.

I can see his point - it is kind of crazy that there is a little person inside of us I love thinking like that personally its amazing really.
I would love for y DH to be able to feel this baby moving but everytime I grab his hand she stops moving :rofl:
I guess guys do have a different perspective though afterall they are "outside" of the pregnancy iykwim. As a woman we get to experience every little thing and guys really can only become, I guess, attached to the pregnancy once it becomes real for them i.e when they can see and feel the baby moving.

I wouldn't be too concerned about his comments especially if he is a first timer, it does feel weird and strange when you feel the baby from the outside.

I always giggle remembering the scene from Aliens especially when you see baby moving under the skin - its so cool!!!!

I think it's hard for men to get their heads around the reality of the baby. For us it's easy, we can feel them move all the time and we have a natural instinct which makes us prepare for them etc. I suppose all men are different in how they handle pregnancy, and I can see why your DH finds it really weird! It is such an amazing thing that seems so unreal.

My DH tends to be a bit detached from the bub because he doesn't feel what I do. The other night though he felt some really big movements (I was the one who was weirded out and I made him feel them too LOL) and he actually started getting really excited and saying that he can't wait to meet her. He hasn't really spoken like that before, so I think that feeling actual knees and feet helped him see that she is real :)

The most important thing is that your DH is a great father to your children once they do get here, your DH definitely sounds like he is :D

I felt mine for the first time yesterday, and to be honest I'm a bit with your DH! On one level I know it's perfectly normal, not weird etc, but on another level I'm finding it very strange.

I think it's good that he's being honest, even if it's not quite what you want to hear.

My Dh is quite honest about it all, he makes me laugh.
He thinks its boring! LOL! He said the first time, yea awesome! But after that its kinda repetitive and gets bored with me putting his hand on my belly constantly. I can see where he's coming from, if a friend was constantly getting me to put my hand on their belly i'd get bored of it too - its not even NEARLY as fun as it is when its you personally.
He just wants the bub to come out already to he can experience it all for himself, rather than experiencing it all by putting a hand on my belly! I can totally get where he's coming from!

My DP LOVES it when he can feel Pipsqueek move - especially at night when I snuggle into his back and he can feel him/her kick thru my belly.I think he feels a bit left out of most pregenacy experiences and this offers some sort of physical connection for him.
But it is a weird concept so understandble that your DH isn't 'into it' - as you said it has no bearing on his ability to be a wonderful loving dad which is what really counts :)

You're not alone hon! My DH is completely freaked out by it all! He loves to feel Tarko moving around but the novelty wears off quite quickly when he gets to feel a few decent back flips and butt/back pointing out positions. He thinks it's super weird and you know what, I completely agree!!! Whenever it freaks him out I remind him how much weirder it is feeling it happening inside you! We both have a good giggle though

I'm not worried about him finding it weird at all, it is weird. He loves my belly though and always says 'hello' and 'goodbye' to it and has a chat to Tarko every now and then. He's just not overly interested in feeling the alien movements. I'm cool with that ;)

This might be TMI, but a baby is in some ways a parasite. It uses Mums body for nutirent, baby gets enough, mum goes without. Apart from the reward at the end, physically speaking a baby does nothing to the mothers benefit during PG.
But I would never go without my DS and won't stop me from having more babies.
