I found a good cure for nappy rash

I can't believe it took me so long to think of it.

My FDC lady usually wipes DD with a tissue dipped in water that has a couple of drops of lavender oil in it and DD has never had bad nappy rash.

Recently she had a bout of bronchiolitis and got nappy rash that just didn't want to go away. So I started putting a capful of lavender oil in her bath and within about 3 or 4 days I noticed that she doesn't have any nappy rash anymore.

So, it's natural, smells nice and seems to also help her sleep better too.

I just thought I'd share my success in treating nappy rash. I hope that it helps someone.

That's great! What a great idea - I used lavender water after having DS on my stitches I was told it had excellent antibacterial and healing properties but never thought about it for bubs bottom!

I actually noticed that Jack has had a bit of nappy rash the last couple nights, as he has been having showers with DH (no soap) instead of his usual lavender oil baths. I wouldn't have even put two and two together, LOL.:doh:

I think the article you are thinking of is a report that lavender can cause a serge of one of the female hormones in boys and some boys apparently produce breasts. I don't know if it's been proven to be scientific fact or not though.

You could try tea-tree oil if you are worried about lavender.

Tea-tree and Eucalypt oil will do the same thing too :)
They are the only 3 essential oils that have all 3 properties of being anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral (meaning they kill everything lol)
