I think my baby is weaning

After a long almost 21 months of breast feeding, I think my DD is starting to self wean. She is starting to go down for her naps now without a feed and often asks for cows milk in a bottle instead of milk from me.

I am happy that she has made the decision herself, and also that I finally get my body back, but apart of me still feels sad, and when we do feed I wonder if its going to be the last one.... am I crazy?

:hug: Oh hun i remember the day too well! Sometimes when i give DS a cu7ddle i think of all the wonderfull bonding time we had while he was BF.

You will be fine and you will love being you again iykwim! 21mths is a wonderfull effort! You shouod be so proud! :hug: xxxxxx

What a great job you've done to bf your DD so long!

However, having said that, I might point out that my DD was weaned from nap-time bbs at about 16 mths and I thought would gradually drop the remaining 2 bfs over the next 6-12 mths. How wrong was I! Enjoy the remaining bfs and all the best for an ending that suits you and your DD.

Jennifer - she only really has it at nap time which is what makes me think its coming to an end, although I just got home from being at work today and she ran at me and starting trying to lift my top for a feed so maybe she has changed her mind again! She is a woman after all!

ooh maybe she isn't done yet :) Sometimes they go through stages where they wont want it as much then they go back to their usual feeding patterns.

It doesn't sound crazy to be sad at the idea she might be weaning, I know I am not looking forward to that day :hug: maybe you can introduce some cuddly time now that can replace that special time?

kelebek - we actually have already been doing that, she now often goes to sleep cuddled into my chest like a koala rather than feeding... which is good cause it means DH can put her to bed too!
