In Need of work

hello
I am in real need of work
I am a teacher aide and i am studying my cert 3 in childcare
yet i have not been able to get work for the last 7 months no matter how hard i have tried
i am a real nice person and i work well with kids i have a blue card so i am a very safe person heck i would even do babysitting just anything to get some money coming in i would prefer fulltime work but hey i guess i just have to get what may come my way

We are doing it real hard just need a real breakthrough in this area I have a wife and family that i need to support aswell.

not to subtract from anything that you have said But im SO SO SO SO SO SO SO proud of you, you have no reason to feel embarrassed. You never give up or are too proud and its at times like this that show a REAL MAN! :loveshower:

I am in Syd so cant really be of much help but was thinkng that maybe you could look into tutoring primary school kids as well. You dont need to be a qualified teacher but your training as a teachers aide will help you. Try ringing some local agencies. You can normally get put on their books and earn around $30 an hour. Not alot but most of the time its cash and its still money in your pocket.

not sure where you are but i did a seek search for childcare workers and there is a heap going.
male cc workers are sort after(as rare as hens teeth) i hope it doesnt take long to find something

I am in the same position as Ali, its a shame you aren't in Sydney, we are always looking for teacher's aides and a male would be great.
I called Numberworks about tutoring and they told me I was way over qualified since I was a teacher and that they only paid $17 an hour :(
I would put your name down at all the local schools, even do some volunteer work to get your foot in the door.

didnt think of tutoring i though you needed to have high quals to be a tutor

I used to run my own tutoring business. There are no qualifications you need to be a tutor but you obviously can't claim to have qualifications you have not obtained.

I advertised online and through posting on local notice board.

Perhaps you could concentrate on getting children up to speed for their second year of school? (down here thats Year 1)?

well the highest qual I have is a teachers aide cert and that is all i have to go on like I said i never thought of tutoting something worthwhile looking into I mean hey I am sure open to it.

I was going to suggest tutoring as well as that is what I am doing. Once you get a couple of jobs word of mouth can travel very fast. I signed up on a website called TutorFinder and you can make a free advertisement there.
Also you can copy info from that ad and go around to local schools/unis/tafe (depending on what levels you are able to offer) and put your flyers up.
You may be able to target a particular area, ie. If you did really well in a particular subject that you are qualified for you can advertise that to students; or if you are really good at something or have a hobby you may be able to say you have "advanced knowledge and understanding of ..."

There's absolutely no reason to be embarrassed about being in need of work! Nearly everyone is in that boat at one point or another.

As the others have said it is a shame you're not in Sydney there is a huge demand for males in childcare and teaching areas! I am an early childhood teacher and any centre in our area would love a highly experienced person, particularly a male to be employed with them.

Have you thought about doing casual work, particularly within the early childhood field (pre schools ect...if you'd like to work with young children)? There are lots of places you can sign your name to and they call you to do casual work. Or call your local council or local centres and ask if they have a casual pool.

Have you tried putting up an ad with your phone number at the bottom on local noticeboards for odd jobs? I see these all the time for things like lawnmowing/gardening, babysitting, typing, etc. and people have always pulled off at least half of the phone numbers on the bottom. This could help bring in a little bit of money until you find something more permanent. Also my DP would recommend going into Centrelink and using their resources to help you get a job if you can.

have you thought of looking into opening your own family day care? You dont need any qualifications to do that, (obviously they prefer it if you do) then you can work your own hours, around your own family.
I wouldnt imagine you would have any problem getting clients, it is such a sort after thing.
