Ive been sleeping in mould for 4 weeks...:(

Okay, so ive been wondering as to why our room is always so damp and wet every morning, my pillows are always cold and damp, and the roof in our bedroom has water leaks coming in.

I called the landlord, and they cleaned the gutter out, and said it should be okay now...

that was 3 weeks ago..

since then, dp has had a severe chesty cough every morning, and i have been weezing and very short of breath....(which i just assumed was all part of the pregnancy)

Yesterday morning, i woke up, and saw all this water coming in from the roof of our bedroom... i took photos to show the landlord how bad it was getting...and decided to do a little investigating...
I pulled the bed away from the wall, and couldnt believe what i saw....

only inches from our heads and pillows....there was an entire wall of green mould, across the entire length of our bed head. Big thick, fluffy growths..

no wonder i have been weezing and dp has had a cough!!!!

I took photos and called the landlord....they didnt know whats causing the moisture and leaks, and thus we have had to evacuate from our bedroom and are now sleeping on the floor in the loungeroom.

I am now worried as to what 4 weeks of breathing in mould and mould spores may have done to my lungs and or the baby.

My midwife didnt seem to worried, but i have been panicing ever since...

Hunny I am sure that your baby will be ok.
As long as you try and stay away from the mould now you should be fine too.
Go to your GP just to be sure though, I am not a Doctor but I have an allergy to mould.

Has your Landlord got someone to come and fix the problem?
They need to action any resonable request within 7 days I think. Google Tenants Rights to find out what you can expect and ask for in your state.

black mould is the worst and most concerning hope this info helps sorry on phone cant type more now

OMG that is disgusting!

its a very dark green mould, and has dried into a black mould.
We privately rent, but have still signed a tenant lease agreement and have paid a bond...so everything is still legitimate, so will the laws still apply for us if we wer to lodge a complaint.

He didnt seem to know what was wrong, and stayed for only ten minutes, ummed and ahhed at the mould, then left.
I was very angry as this is terrile for not only our health, but our babys when its born.

I told him that they should get someone professional in to look at the roof and floor, to see what is causing it. That was 3 days ago, and i have yet to recieve a call from the landlord with an answer as to what theyre going to do...??

Oh yuck you poor thing!!
I'd be contacting your landlord again, 3 days is long enough. He should've got back to you by now. You still have rights even if it's a private rental agreement.
I hope your landlord sorts this out ASAP with minimal stress to you.

thanks, me too. It doesnt help that were only in a 2 bedroom home too, so our loungeroom has practically become our bedroom, abd the babys nursery is set up in the room next to the mouldy one, so now im waiting and wondering whether the mould may start to appear in bubs room...even moisture can be bad enough, and its hard to know where its coming from, whether it could even be seeping up through the floor, beneath the carpet :/
