Does your cat behave differently towards you when you're pregnant?
We got a 3 month old kitten 6 weeks ago. She loved me. Would follow me round everywhere, come to me when she was scared etc.
I've just had an IVF cycle, am close to testing (next week) and my cat will NOT come near me. She fusses when I try to pick her up and runs away.
Has anyone else had this?

My cat brings me 'gifts' when I am pregnant. Nothing better than half a chewed mouse body and a scattering of limbs for your morning sickness lol
Not a cat - but my brothers dog used to go stupid when i went to visit when I was pregnant, she would wimper and lean against me and try to sit on me, she was not like this before I was preg or after.

My cat is always snuggling up to my belly or the crook of my back when I am prgenant....it is actually one of the first signs for me cause she starts almost from implantation being really sooky sooky la la with me.......
My cat is permanently glued to my lap when I'm pregnant! She won't leave me alone for a minute. Follows me around, sits on my lap constantly.
those that are preggers and do have cats PLEASE be VERY careful when changing your cats litter/poo due to toxoplasmosis (which can be VERY harmful to unborn bubbas!!!!)
My cats were only kittens - we have 2 from the same litter and they'll be 3 this year. I was 6wks pg when we got them. The further into the pregnancy I got, the more sooky one got. He'd try and sit ON my bump, and I was just very uneasy about it. I don't think there would have been any problem with it, if he did sit there... just uncomfortable. That same cat, after a few mths after ds was born, discovered he was warm and suggly and could play with him... That cat just loves him, and ds thinks he's just the best. The other day, I could ds using the cat as a horse. Cat didn't care!!
I made dh do that!! :) I tried to get away with it after bub was born and succeeded, if only for a few months!!:
My cat wouldnt leave my side when i was pregnant. Even to the point of sitting on my lap when i tried to pee :rofl:
She would climb up really high on my bumb and just purr and rub me :)

my cats became obsessed with me. it was one of the reasons why i decided that i should possibly, maybe test. that and the dog becoming really curious with my .Y. too LOL!
ya gotta give it to animals, they can sense stuff we can't! One of my cats wouldn't leave me alone, the other one would have nothing to do with me.
Now that I know that I am pregnant, she doesn't come near me at all. She used to be so cuddly and love to be picked up, now she runs and hides when I try to pet her. *sigh*
I hope she snaps out of it!! It's really upsetting me, she was my wee pal!

my cat was really protective and would sleep across our bedroom door if i was home on my own and attack the foot of DF when he did come home.
Shes now like this with DD! :)

Also I read that it's ok to be exposed to kitty litter when pregnant if you were around it BEFORE you were pregnant too, as this means you've built up an immunity to the toxic stuff (technical term!).
My cat loved me when I was pregnant. She used to sit on my belly and claw it so she could get comfortable. I always had red marks from her claws on my tummy. My ob asked me one day what they were :lol: He was quite concerned.
When getting your bloods for various immunities during pregnancy, or any time actually, you can also request Toxoplasmosis marker testing to see if you've built resistance to it.
