How old for 1st moustache shave?

DS14 asked me tonight if he could shave his upper lip, I said no but DH said yes. He said he doesn't like it because it is too dark and quite noticable now and his friends have started too. I told him it would grow back faster and thicker but he listened to his dad and they both headed off into the bathroom. It was quite cute in a way, he was so excited. I just think my little boy is turning into a man to fast for me :D. Just wondering anyone else with teenage boys, at what age did they start to shave.

dp reckons it took him until about 18 that he really actually needed to shave...tee hee

My DF was shaving at 10 years old.
However my brother, at almost 17 still doesn't need to shave. And a friend, at age 22 has hair so blonde and light he does not shave at all.

My brother is 14 and he has to shave every couple of days! he is the only boy in his year that has so much facial hair.

I tried shaving my mo when I was 4 and my dad told me off :redface:

I now have lasered it away permanently!

Needless to say, I expect my son will be shaving by the time he is 10, poor hairy little man that he is........

Wow, the ages really do vary from 4-22 :lol: makes me feel much better. Thanks for your replies.

IMO age is irrelevant, once they've got the bum fluff it has to go.

I tried not to laugh but he did cut himself :lol:. I asked him whether he used shaving cream, he didn't, apparently dad said you don't really need it and dad, is supposed to be the expert. I'm sure he'll use some next time. Oh the joys of teens.

My nephew has just asked my DH to show him how to shave (his Dad has run off with another man, so asking him is not ok - to him). My nephew is about 12..

Lol :yeahthat: to what Brontide said - bumfluff is unsightly as heck in my book lol, if I had a 10-year-old with a dark shadow I'd demand they get rid of it hahaha :D
It doesn't matter that it grows back thicker, my mum kept telling my brother that because she refused to admit he was growing up, he ended up keeping the dark bumfluff (which grew in patches hahahaha, rather than an actual moustache, it looked soooooo dumb) for months until Dad threatened to hold him down and shave it himself :) I'd rather shave my legs every single day than have fuzzy stuff :)

i shaved when i was 13
i would let him shave if he wants to esp if it is annoying him or making him feel unconfortable
it is true that the hair will grow back faster and darker the more that he shaves
agreed that our kids always grow up too fast for us well that is my 2 cents worth hope that helps:)

My poor DH still has bum fluff! Still grows in patches.
He'll go 2 months between shaving & the patches might get to about half a cm! Poor dear...he swears he'll have a beard one day...
I personally asked to shave my legs, but the second I got hair under my arms it was gone with out telling anyone. I was really embarrassed.
I would let DS do the same...if I ever thought he'd have that problem! I think he's just like his daddy though ;)

hahaha thats what hubbie said, he rekoned ya just have a nice warm shower and ya ready to dry shave eeek!!!! i told him to use cream and he has NOT looked back less cuts too and irritation.

OMG ! That is tooooooooooo cute ! I think if he is ready he should go for it ....... tee hee he ! That's just so cute !
