Stinky Saliva
Brendan has REALLY smelly saliva... its so disgusting. What could it mean? Should I take him to a dentist?
He is still teething, getting 2yo molars (has been for about 4 months now :wall: )
He dribbles so much saliva that he goes through 2-3 t-shirt changes per day and his pj's only last the one night.
Any thoughts?

Anyone?
I've had some suggestions of mouthwash and toothpaste, but he is unable to spit them out yet.
He brushes his own teeth every night, he wont let us near his mouth and he doesnt like his ears being touched either (and they are gross too)

I know when Nina had stinky breath she had a throat infection. With the teeth brushing, what sort of techniques have you tried to brush his teeth for him? Nina prefers to clean her own as well, so I make it fun and tell her I'll count all her teeth with the toothbrush, while she looks on in the mirror. It kind of takes distracts her from what I'm actually doing.

Just on the teeth brushing, he really needs someone to do it for him once a day. Kids don't have the manual dexterity to clean their teeth properly until at least 8. I know they hate having someone do it for them  but it does need to happen. I would suggest telling him that he can have a turn after mummy's turn, and maybe singing a song while you're brushing.
A build up of plaque (which contains yucky bacteria) could certainly be contributing to smelly breath/saliva. You might find that after a couple of weeks of really good toothbrushing that the smell improves :). HTHs.
