Positive OPK after ovulation

Hi all - I'd love your thoughts/knowledge/feedback about this please.

I am 8 DPO and had a positive OPK test today. One of my girlfriends told me that you could take an OPK before you take a HPT. I did this tonight and it showed positive. The control line is still slightly darker but the test line is still very dark. I had a look on that site - which I am not sure if I am allowed to reference, but the one that discusses O tests and HPT's with pictures of what is positive and what isn't. It does specifically say that you should use O tests instead of HPT's. Also, something interesting - after I did O - and I took an O test, only the control line showed up.

Anyway - I realise it is still super early and have a ridiculously overactive imagination but thought I'd see what everyone else thought anyway :)

Oooppps - just re-read my post and I need to clarify something:

The site that deals with the O tests and HPT's specifically says you should NOT use O tests in leui of HPT's because even thought they look for the same thing, O tests are too general.

But as you can see from my question, I am still wondering if this might be wrong because I am getting my hopes up. Lol

Coruba, i think it is a good sign! Opks test for LH, but as HCG is similar to LH chemically (or something!), they will also detect HCG. (a HPT will *only* detect HCG, so a positive there is positively a positive, but the opk is less reliable) BUT it is certainly promising - :D

Heh heh, i want to rush off and do an opk myself now, but i am too gutless!

Hiya smamfa - how sucky is this 2ww.........I am going craaaaaaazzzzyy. I just did the OPK because I had some left and thought "eh - why not" But now I am more mystified than ever - :doh:

On other news - have decided that ff is NOT my friend. It is giving me 30 points for early pregnancy. 30! Not even 50/50! You'd think since it is called ff, it would at least TRY and be nice, but no no, it's being a little bit *****y and giving me 30 points. Definately testing the friendship ;)

Can't wait for Sunday...............but scared to be very disappointed.

Oh how interesting, I didn't know OPKs can be used for preg tests. I have dozens of OPKs from Ebay and have run out of HPK...that's good to know!
