Hi all,
Well, Miss C my DD is having her very 1st Kindergarten photo (for 3 year olds) this Mon :D
What do they wear ? :dunno:
Is it their usual Kinder clothes that they can ruin with paints, etc on the day (i'm assuming that still do those Kinder activities on the day) ... or Do i put ' good ' clothes on her for the day so she looks nice in the photo ? :pigtail:
I obviously have no idea, LOL ;)
TIA for ideas on what to wear :dance:
I send DS1 in a bit nicer stuff than usual on photo day
totally up to you of course but at our centre alot of parents send separate clothes which their child then changes out of after the photo. HTH
I think what normally looks best is just something plain. A simple t-shirt in a primary colour maybe. It depends what your particular kinder uses as a background...sometimes the background can be quite fussy so it's best to wear something simple.
Lorelle, I send Darcy in what she usually goes in, but I pack a nice shirt and a comb. The girls are happy (at my centre anyway) to change the kids into a nice top for their photo and comb their hair so they at least look presentable.
Thanks so much everyone, i so appreciate your imput (silly me didn't think of it until after Kinder finished up for the day on Friday otherwise i would have rang & asked the Kinder teacher :rolleyes:) !!
Yep, will dress her in ' nicer ' clothes (ones i won't be heart broken if they did get ruined) & pack Kinder clothes in her bag incase they 'might' change her ;)
Kim, ... thanks for that tip as i was just thinking to pop a brush in & now you reminded me :D
I dress them in nicer clothes and throw in normal clothes to change into. Also just let the carers know that their are clothes to change your daughter into once the photos are finished. Oh, and I put in another nice shirt/dress in case the first ones get dirty before the photos JIC.
Our kindy has actual kindy t-shirts that you can buy at the start of the year - in different colours with the kindy logo on them - for the kids to wear when they are there. I bought these for my DS and DD to wear, so that's what I dressed them in for the photo - it's like their kindy 'uniform' and I thought it made sense to dress them in that for their class photo.
Thanks heaps BON for that info ... Only about two kids in her 3 year old Kinder have the uniform top, it seems the uniform top at her Kinder is more for the 4 year olds Kinder group. So reckon i might put one on her when she has a uniform top for her 4year old Kinder photo ;)
Thanks a million COURTNEY as you read my mind as that's exactly what i'm gonna do. Thanks for re-asurring that in me, i feel better now i'm doing the 'right' thing, LOL :D
Update : I told Kinder assistant & teacher today that DD had Kinder clothes in her bag if need to change her after photo's taken only to be given a blank look like i should know as if i've had a child in Kinder before that the photographer can't take photo's of ALL the children in one session (day) and that the photographer would be coming over a period of 3weeks ... Well, the paperwork said " Kinder photo's taken on 3rd of Aug" how was i to know otherwise :rolleyes:
Anyway, after dressy DD in chocolate brown cords, hot pink & green striped turtle neck top & hot pink love heart shoes looking very CUTE the photographer NEVER turned up at all today to take photo's (guess i should have had esp to know that too, tongue in cheek) ... So, DD maybe wearing the same outfit for the next two weeks until her photo's are taken ... I asked the teacher today should i change her before i left today & she said NO ... so until the photographer turns up DD's nice clothes are at risk of getting paint, etc on them :doh:
Oh, well bright side to the story only one lot of Kinder photo's for the year ;)

My poor DS has a very absentminded mummy... I forgot all about photos and he turned up in his regular old clobber, the pics still look great though, so I don't think it matters that much.
It's ok PAM couple of Mum's didn't even know it was photo day ... hence hadn't signed the permission form which strongly states no permission, no photo ... so i guess WE should feel lucky ;)
(My DD's Kinder teacher & assistant are very lovely but a bit a miss with minor details i have noticed :rolleyes: ... and we have only been going for 3weeks, well at least i'm aware of it then not)
how odd Lorelle.....how many kids? They do our whole daycare (individual and family photos) on one day.
Hey Kim i can only laugh as i have found since living in this big country town 'things' truely are done differently here then when i was living in the city all my life, LOL ;)
The group has just be split this week (one group in morn & now one group in arvo) ... so today there was about 10 kids (DD had 13 kids at her birthday party & i managed to herd them up like sheep for pics, HA !!)
How strange they take 3 weeks to do the pics!
From a photographer's point of view (mine), I'd recommend clothes your little one is very comfortable in, and the plainer the better so it doesn't date too much. No big logos or graphics on the clothes either because when you look at the photos that's what your eye will be drawn to and you want the focus to be on your little one, not their outfit.
I still love the kinder photos my mum has of me in my denim overalls from the 80s. Kinder photos are the cutest! :clap:
Thanks heaps Beetle for your wonderful advice :D ... Yeh, i picked the pants for a plain colour & the bright striped top more cause it reminded DP & I have of the 70's tops we wore as kids & bright colours look best on her (pale colours she looks sick). Also her personality is so bright & bubbly i thought the top reflected her personality. I meant to mention the top does have a white strip in it too so it's not outlandish as such IYKWIM ;)
Can you believe it i nearly put denim overalls on her cause they look so sweet but the strap last time she wore them i noticed started to slip.
Oh, yeh & her clothes are 'always' comfy ... cause i'm a comfy clothes wearing person myself !!
(P.S - One of my nickname's is Lou Lou :D)
Aww that outfit sounds adorable! Even if she gets a bit of paint on her clothes, that's the point of kinder photos really - to show the kids as they are on a 'normal' day at kinder. She'll look back on the pics when she's an adult and get a glimpse of what her day to day life was like at that age.
I am a big fan of stripes!
