Sometimes when I put DS2 down for a day sleep he just lies there cooing and giggling/playing, for up to a half hour (thats as long as I've left him in there).
Im sure he must be tired hes been awake for over 2 hours
Do you get them back up, or leave them until they're unhappy?
If they're happy I wait and see, sometimes they'll drift off on there own and other times I find they get cranky and I have to go and pat or rub her tummy.
I've found if I get them up then they end up getting overtired and much harder to settle.
If they're happy, I leave them. For as long as I can! :p If he's not asleep after a certain amount of time, you could always try a feed and then pop him back down? That might be the help he needs to get him cosy and full enough to have a siesta.
I tend to go with the 1/2 hr still awake, get up rule, but that was from when DS was a bit older (9m). I don't like to leave till upset, as sometime it is hard to come back from IYKWIM.
How did he cope when you got him up? Sometimes no matter how hard I tried DS would miss a nap, but catch up in the next one... Hard one...
Id leave him!
quiet often after DD has awoken from a nap she'll coo quiet happily, i actually leave her as she more often than not puts herself back to sleep, i know by the coo's if thats going to happen or not, if its more than a happy coo i get her up
well, I went in to check and he prompty dirtied his nappy, and now he's wide awake. Was just after a feed when I put him down as he fell asleep
I generally found if DD didn't fall asleep as quickly as she usually did it was generally because she needed a change or something. So I checked. But if it was waking up from a nap and she was happy I'd give her a few minutes.
