This might be a silly question but my DD was breech from the start right up until birth never once did she want to be head down.
Yesterday I had a scan and baby is in the same position, I understand that it is still very early and there is plenty on time but is it the norm that a baby is head up and bum down at 19-20 weeks or is it usually head down by this scan?

for second babies i think 36 weeks?

Ok whith my DS he has HD from 32wks, Lilli, heheh she really was checky, she cahnged a few times, but from 34wks, however this one, has been since 26wks!!!! She has not moved yet, so i guess she has found her possy. Each baby is so different.
Jazz didn't spin until 33/34 weeks, and one midwife had me worrying but others said thats normal while they still have some room. She kept us guessing, she'd move around head up-head down-head up every few days :wall: LOL, cheeky monkey!
A friend of Shel's went into labour with her first and he was breech and turned a little bit after contractions started!!
I'm pretty sure mine is still breech at the moment honey, so we can hope together that both the bubs turn! :)
Apparently this is what I did, so my Mum tells me (although I was baby #2).:
Matilda had no room to move she waited to long to turn and she had no chance, my belly was very compact and she was snug with enough but minimal fluid.

Our bubs was floating all over the place at 20 weeks and assumed the 'dive position' (as I fondly like to call it) by 26 weeks. My OB said that was quite early (although great!) so I wouldn't be worried yet hon.

Skybie, it is nice to know that babies do turn at later stages.

Dd was head down and engaged from 32 weeks
Hun, I think they spin. My little one was head up on Wednesday at the scan, and then head down on Monday. My OB said, second time round there is a lot of room, and hard to tell position accurately without u/s. I am not worrying till at least 34 weeks, but trying to be good with sitting, and positioning to do all I can to encourage HEAD DOWN for that VBAC too.

I had absolutly no idea when the 'should' be head down from, I can remember my ob saying last time that they will start looking at spinning baby etc from 'x' weeks, I just cannot remember what week number he said :lol:, I knew it was still early days (this time I mean) I just really wanted an idea so I could try put at least one thing out of my head, for now :D.
My ds was born at 30 weeks and he was head down

My obs said just this wed gone that anytime from 34 wks bubs should turn to head down. This is my 1st though, not sure if it makes a difference.
My bub has been head down since 32 weeks.
I think every baby is different. I have no idea when they go head down but with my number 2 the head was not engaged at 9am when I went to hospital in labour. He was born at 2pm so anything is possible.
I went for a scan yesterday and was happy and suprised to see that baby was head down, bum up :clap:.
The ultrasound guy scanned for about 20 minutes and left the room for about 5 minutes, I just sat quietly and waited for him. So he comes back and tells me he wants to look at a couple more things, I lay down he looks at baby, she has her head up under my left rib and she is bum down! I didn't feel a thing, so obviously she has plenty of room to be an acrobat still :lol:.
Oh well at least I know there is plenty of room and time to settle into her chosen position :D.
